Ohio State beats undefeated IPFW and Loyola topples Northridge and Nick Meyer gets POW honors....again. Back to back weeks and they beat Rutgers and Springfield! Way to go Nick (dripping with sarcasm). LAME.
Feb. 13, 2007 Ball State's Nick Meyer named the MIVA Shondell/Dunlap Division Player of the Week Nick Meyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller High School), a 6-8 outside attacker for Ball State (6-4, 1-0 MIVA Shondell/Dunlap Division), has been named the MIVA Shondell/Dunlap Division Player of the Week. Meyer, named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2007 Volleyball Hall of Fame Morgan Classic, helped Ball State to 3-0 victories over Rutgers-Newark (30-27, 30-18, 30-18) and Springfield College (30-25, 30-19, 30-24) last week. He posted a team-high 21 kills against Rutgers-Newark while hitting .586, adding four digs, two assist blocks and an ace serve. Meyer had a team-high 15 kills and shared team-high honors with 10 digs against Springfield. His 15 kills and 10 digs was his second double-double of the season. He hit .464 in the match, adding two solo blocks, three assist blocks and an ace serve. In the two matches, Meyer averaged 6.00 kills, 2.33 digs and 1.17 blocks per game while hitting .526. This marks the fifth time Meyer has been named Player of the Week. He received the honor twice in 2006 and 2007 and once in 2005.
