Thanks for the updates! Its great to see the American girls having some good success oversees.
Carlson and Deesing look like they put up a really good fight to take a set against one of the best pro teams RC Cannes.
I am still really impressed with Sonja Newcombe. She has registered 28, 14 and 25 points in her first 3 matches in a very tough Turkish league. Might be the best overall league this year.
It will be fun to see how Logan Tom and Sonja Newcombe do this year in Turkey

USAFAN, is it true that Rabita Baku is offering Logan Tom a ridiculously high contract to come to Azerbaijan instead of Turkey?

USAFAN, is it true that Rabita Baku is offering Logan Tom a ridiculously high contract to come to Azerbaijan instead of Turkey? Tom is listed as having her paperwork completed by the USAV for her transfer to Turkey. If they were still in the process of negotiations I doubt they would have posted that information. Once you sign there would be additional fees that Rabita would probably have to pay Fenerbache to make the transfer as well as to the USAV. However, it does appear that the Azeri teams have a lot of money to throw around so I guess it could be possible. Also Rabita has two fantastic OHs in Mammadova and Osmokrović. Not sure bringing in another OH would be the best investment. The only reason I could think of Tom accepting such an offer is the limitations that the Turkish League imposes on foreign players during their league play. Fenerbache has 4 foreign players for this season and due to the Turkish rules, only 3 will be allowed to play during Turkish League matches. Not sure what Ze Roberto's coaching plans are but I can't imagine Tom being thrilled with riding the bench if the coaches choose to start the other 3. Rabita is playing in the Champions League as well as Fenerbache and imposes no such limitations on foreigners during Azeri League match play.

The latest news is the rumor is false.
It may be true that Rabita Baku offered for Tom this year. In fact, they have been very interested in Logan Tom since last year, but it is not true that Logan Tom signed with them.
Rabita Baku's director, Nasimi Musayev said that he does not know what will happen in future years but Tom would not play for Rabita this season.

So it looks like Logan Tom is still headed to Turkey but she is not there yet. No reports or stats from Fenerbahce. Anyone else have news?
Currently it looks like Sonja Newcombe is the only American player in Turkey. Last game 32 points against a solid Besiktas team.

Logan will not report to Fener for a few more weeks IF they qualify for London at WCup, if not, it'll be a month longer wait until after the NORCECA Olympic Qualifier in December.
