Issues with the coaching staff and their school of thought, I've heard. Too bad. McGinnis was excellent and was the last player cut from the 2008 Olympic squad. The last spot was between her and Berg. She was such a smart setter. Knew the game so well. Best of luck to her.

Interview with Carli Lloyd ( excerpt translated from Italian) www.vivovolley.net/2012/04/13/carli-lloyd-giocare-in-italia-e-sempre-stato-il-mio-sogno/You suited up with the USA national team at the Pan American Games in 2011. What were the emotions you felt, representing your country?Lloyd: The experience with the national team has been very important to me, because you have to fight for your place in the team, you should always train with discipline and be very focused, and when the national team calls you, you find yourself ready and when I learned that I was on the team to participate in the Pan American Games I was really honored. Playing for my country, wearing the uniform is a dream for millions of people that only few can achieve and has been an honor for me. We were a group that was very young and very motivated. I set with Courtney Thompson, against whom I have never played in college but I have always looked with admiration for the way he trains for his being a great professional and a great teammate. Being on the team with her taught me a lot. In general, the experience was very important to me, gave me the chance to play at the international level and be ready to come here (in Italy) and take control of the direction of the team to try to win the championship. Regarding the Olympics, I know it will be very hard to be able to join the team that will go to London, but it is obviously a dream and my goal, and we can win the gold medal, this year, and I'll give my contribution to achieve the objective. If I'm not present, however, I hope the team to win and clinch the title. Source: www.vivovolley.net

Wow that was an exciting match between Busto and VC. Game 5 was super intense. Both teams wanted it badly and I think played their best in the last set. Love the OPP on Busto. That is a take-out-the-trash OPP. They set her so many trouble sets and her arm really saved them. Love her reaction on winning the match points both for and against. Really carried her team. I hope Fawcette and Falyn can develop into players of her caliber as they are kinda similar physically. MB Bauers is incredible. VC was a bit streaky. Pavan got really hot in Game 5, but I think she had something like four or five 3 meter violations and the last one was so costly. Kinda wish Cruz played for the US. She would be a solid option at OH2 in place of Larson or if Larson were to struggle.

It's not the best but she can pass and play defense. She'll tool and get the occasional kill. Very much a 4th or 5th option hitter like Larson but invaluable for contributions in ball control.

Very much a 4th or 5th option hitter like Larson but invaluable for contributions in ball control. I think Larson is better these days. Cruz is a good passer, but Larson digs more, blocks way better and is a superior hitter. Larson has really come a long way in the last 3 years!

Not sure we need her now, but Cruz would have been nice in '08.
