Burdine was focusing on the beach game the last few years and she did see time with the NT over the summer and made the Pan Am Games roster where she played sparingly

I completely forgot about her. I didn't realize she was still playing. Anyone know why she hasn't been playing with the national team? Beach. I always thought Burdine was the glue on those USC teams loaded with talent. She always came to play and rose to the occasion in all the big matches. I know most people loved April Ross, but I'd take Burdine over Ross anyway.

Keao was playing beach in the summer and indoor during the winter in both Puerto Rico and Turkey. When beach volley imploded last year she decided to focus 100% on indoor. It look like focusing on just indoor for the past year is paying off for her.

To be blunt, Keao turned to indoor full time because she was a terrible beach player, not because the AVP folded. That said, I'm very glad to see her find success in the indoor game.

I've always liked Keao. Wished she played for Hawaii.

but I'd take Burdine over Ross anyway. Once close friends and even beach partners.. I wonder if Keao has gotten over April's actions. I hope they found a way to stay friends.

So A consistent ranking in the top 20 of the AVP for over five years is a terrible player? Have you talked to Keao? Where are you getting your information from?

Burdine has never been ranked in the top 20, she's never been close to the top 20. Her best ever season rank was 31st, and she was generally in the 35-45 range. "Terrible" might not have been the best choice of words, but Keao was not a top player by any stretch of the imagination. Playing indoor full time was a good decision, and plays to her strengths far more than beach ever did.

Bottom line is that she would still be playing beach if there was a tour that was worth a %*$# in the US. It's a good thing for her that there isn't.

USAFAN, thank you for the links. Wow. Fener just served and blocked Rabita off the court, 3-0.

Keao Burdine is having a great season playing for a Tyumen in the Russian S.L. Statistically she is the highest rated American in the League. Great to read this. Keao was the linch pin of those great 2002-2004 USC ball-clubs. So happy she is still playing. ;D
