It should be noted they were resting their star player (Havelkova) and best back-up, and were playing their 5'6" back-up libero as a 6-rotation outside.... and still took the #3 team in the league to 17-15 in the 5th.

No more unbeaten streak for Busto.
Rematch will be in CEV.

Been reading her entries during the season and I see she added her last entry in the past day. It is a good read and I'm glad that she knows how to write about these things without stumbling into the online media faux pas like other players.

-- Lauren Gibbemeyer's team, Toyota Autobody Queenseis, did not qualify for the playoffs and finished the regular season 7th out of 8 teams in the league. Just got back from watching Laurens last 4 games. She wound up with the highest hitting percentage in the league. I think she finished 4th in scoring. Not too bad considering it is a rebuilding team with a rookie setter.

Last year USA women NT started their training block on May 2 but I heard they want to start earlier this year, as early as next month.
When do the pro leagues wrap up?

Other national teams will certainly be back in their gyms by April since Olympic Qualification tournaments are in May.
NORCECA Women's Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament 27 April - 6 May 2012 CEV Women's Continental Olympic Qualifications 1 - 6 May 2012 CSV Women's South American Olympic Qualification 8 - 14 May 2012 ALL World Olympic Quallifcation 19 - 27 May 2012
Polish league is already in their playoff semis. Final match for the Brazilian league is on April 14. Final match is April 15 for Italy.
Most leagues will finish early/mid April so maybe players take a week or two to rest and then make their way back to the US gym.
The only league I've heard that might end late is Turkey (to finish mid/late May).

Turkey will be playing in the Olympic Qualification tournament held in Turkey this May. Turkey will not only be playing, they are also the host and turkish federation wants their players training together atleast 2-3 weeks before the tournament so Turkish League will take a break. This will also allow the other european players playing in Turkey to join their national teams in Italy, Russia, etc. Rumor is that Turkish Cup will be played after the European Qualification tournament. Hence, Turkish club season won't end til May. The schedule isn't officially out yet but this is what I've been hearing.

This is crazy. They know this is an olympic year so they could have adjusted the schedule appropriately. Poor planning and poor players.
I'd imagine that some players will end up leaving early depending on which country they play for.
If I we're Hugh I'd want my team back in the gym to start training together, even though we've qualified, we need to get together and gel as a team.

I heard the same! If that happens, it's bad news for the players. Well I'm hoping they find an earlier schedule for the Turkish Cup because if it happens in May, it's a logistical nightmare not only for the players, their clubs but also their national federations. Fener's Naz, Eda and Seda and Liuba have to play in the CEV (1 - 6 May 2012) Ze Roberto and Fabiana have to play in the CSV (8 - 14 May 2012) Y.K.Kim has to play in the Asian/World (19 - 27 May 2012) So any which way you look at it, Fenerbahce is screwed.
