Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week
February 26, 2007
Steve Klosterman - UCLA Senior, Opposite Hitter, 6-7 (Long Beach, Calif. – Marina High School)
Steve Klosterman, a 6-7 senior right side/opposite hitter for then-seventh-ranked UCLA, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week. He earned the award for his strong contributions in the Bruins wins over then-No.10 Cal State Northridge and then-third-ranked UC Santa Barbara last week. In UCLA's three-game sweep of Cal State Northridge, Klosterman had 31 kills – 22 in a row before his first error in the third game – in 45 attempts for a .667 hitting percentage. He also contributed two aces, three digs and four total blocks in the match. Klosterman followed that up with 23 kills, a .314 hitting percentage, one ace, seven digs and two total blocks in the Bruins’ 3-1 upset of UC Santa Barbara. In addition, over the weekend, he reached a career total 1,271 kills, which ranks first in UCLA history in the rally-scoring era and fifth all-time. For the week, Klosterman averaged a .479 hitting percentage on 7.7 kills per game. He also averaged 1.42 digs and .85 blocks per game. Klosterman’s honor is the fourteenth time a UCLA player has received the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week award, and the first since Nick Scheftic received it on April 3, 2006. UCLA is coached by Al Scates.

This was a great pick for the week. Klosterman was an absolute animal last week against CSUN and UCSB. Congrats!

Agreed. Injuries have made his career somewhat rocky (especially after that dynamite frosh campaign), but he is certainly the real deal. Mental strength to go along with physical gifts. All the talk has been Patak and Caroll at OPP, but this guy might actually be the best overall. Great POW pick for sure!
