www.avca.org/collegiate/MenDIpoll/Menspoll2-26-07.asp************************************************** CSTV/AVCA Division I-II Men's Top 15 Coaches Poll Poll #8: February 26, 2007 Rank School (First-Place Votes) Total Points 2007 Record Last Week 1 Pepperdine (15) 235 13-1 1 2 UC Irvine 222 17-3 2 3 BYU 204 11-4 4 4 UC Santa Barbara 181 12-5 3 5 UCLA (1) 176 10-7 7 6 Penn State 175 8-2 5 7 Ohio State 151 13-1 8 8 IPFW 107 9-3 6 9 Pacific 101 8-9 9 10 Loyola-Chicago 96 12-3 11 11 Cal State Northridge 95 8-9 10 12 Southern California 59 6-9 14 13 Hawai'i 57 3-11 12 14 Long Beach State 37 6-8 13 15 Ball State 13 8-6 NR Others receiving points and listed on two or more ballots: Saint Francis (Pa.) 8; UC San Diego 3. Zero schools were listed on only one ballot for a total of 0 points. Dropped out: Saint Francis (Pa.) (15) Next Poll: March 5, 2007 ** The AVCA does not recognize any rankings below 15 in the poll as it is not possible when voters only select the top 15 teams and only teams with two or more votes are listed. It would be accurate and logical to say "listed" instead of "ranked" in the poll for spots below 15. Poll Conducted and Distributed by the American Volleyball Coaches Association

Non-MPSF power! Spots 6-8, plus 4 out of the top 10. After Winder, Thornton and Beckwith, Matthews and Lundeen arguably the next best setters in the nation....

Looks like UCSD got very little love for their win over the Beach. USC got very little love for their big win. UCLA is getting hot, someone gave them a #1 vote. Must be Marv's vote.

Lewis, Pacific and Stanford coming up. I say they come out w/ at least 1 win (Lewis looks ripe to me), maybe two? (Stanford?). I say they steal one from the upcoming Hawaii visit too.

Fingrbustr,, I disagree with you. I think that Beckwith, Thorthon and then "Winder", the 3 best setter in college. After them i will choose a real nice skill setter in LUKE MURRAY. That guy is very good and he with Brian Beckwith can play in the next level. BB and LM will play PRO. betyouthatttt.

My only knock on Luke is that he is small... but he still blocks well, so i guess it doesn't make a difference how tall he is. Luke is just a pimp! He can ball, no doubt about it. MONEY HANDS!

One thing that has been a certainty is one can never count UCLA out of anything. After what looked like was going to be a dismal season, Al has waved his magic Westwood wand and concocted a lineup that is meshing well.
The Bruins have some key matches coming up-- 2 vs. UC Irvine and an away match at Pepperdine. Pepperdine is sizzling hot, Irvine is finally coming into a groove again. I don't think UCLA can take PEP at Malibu-- especially with Winder on the court rather than Hughes.
The wild card match is going to be the USC match for the Bruins-- these teams always seem to be spoilermakers for each other-- be it football, basketball or volleyball-- you gotta love the cross-town rivalry. We've still got a highly contested season in front of us-- and that's not even including the MPSF tourney.
