USC to play Quincy for first time ever By Joe Turner Daily Trojan March 9, 2007
Los Angeles, CA (CSTV U-WIRE) -- By the time the USC men's volleyball team takes the court Friday for its next match, most students will be finished with classes and getting ready to jet off to their spring-break destinations.
It will be back to work for the Trojans, however, as they play their first-ever match against Quincy University in a rare non-conference matchup at 7 p.m. at the Galen Center.
After falling to No. 3-ranked Brigham Young University in two matches last weekend, the No. 13 Trojans (6-11, 5-9 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) will look to regain their form against the Hawks (3-13, 2-4).
Junior outside hitter Juan Figueroa said he knows that the match will be important for the team's confidence coming off the losses to BYU.
"These games are important so that we do get some confidence back after playing possibly the best team," Figueroa said. "As long as we play hard and work hard, we will be able to win and feel comfortable again."
The team will then face a full slate of matches over the next week as it squares off against alumni for two matches on Saturday before playing Rutgers-Newark on March 13 and UC San Diego on March 16.
"We just need to play hard, pass and serve well, and we'll be ready for the game," Figueroa said.

Actually, if they can pull it off, this would be USC's second match with Quincy since they played last night I think Quincy is at CSUN tonight.
