STANFORD, CA-- No. 12-ranked Long Beach State cruised to a 31-29, 30-27, 30-25 victory over Stanford on Friday evening. The 49ers improved to 8-9, 5-8 MPSF while the Cardinal fell to 2-18, 1-14 MPSF. Paul Lotman led the 49ers with 16 kills and an impressive .560 hitting percentage. Dean Bittner notched 11 kills and eight blocks, while Teddy Liles chipped in eight kills hitting for a .500 clip. Dan Alexander hit .583 (8-1-2) to go along with eight blocks and Conor Eaton had 43 assists and a team-high eight digs as he directed the 49er offense to a .389 hitting percentage.
Kawika Shoji led Stanford with 17 kills and Evan Romero chipped in 12. Brian Lindberg tallied 10 digs while Mike Groppi had 39 assists as the Cardinal hit .276 on the evening.
Long Beach State returns to action tomorrow evening as they travel to Stockton where they will take on No. 8-ranked Pacific at 7 pm.

To tell you the truth, neither team looked dominate. They were fairly close games with a few breaks going to the side of LB. It wasn't a very intense game and neither team took control. Overall, I was dissapointed in the overall matchplay. I thought both teams could have done beter.
