Most disappointing loss ever! The wahine had SC by the throat and they should have swept. I love Kanani but will never forget how she let that serve go , set point in set 4, when it's that close you always always take it. Then it became the Jupiter show in set 5 and that was it, she earned POY. Hagglund is also unbelievable she robbed Kanani, Jane and Emily of at least 5 sure kills each.
It absolutely sickens me that Pepperdine and their douche assistant coach is in the elite 8 and not the wahine, ugh. Congrats to Nina and the waves though.

One more note, Was disappointed Dave put in Stauber late in set 4 and 5. She is not ready for crunch time and can't dig a ball to save her life.

Poor Kanani. She played so well but she was really hurting late in the 4th set. I was sitting two rows behind the bench and at one time out, she looked like she was ready to pass out. The medical staff moved towards her but was told to stay back by the trainer. Her will never faltered, but her body betrayed her. She will be missed next year. I have to say Croson is the most fearless player I have ever watched. the arena was hot as hell, and she was clearly exhausted and her body couldn't cool down. I really felt for her. She gave it her all but just wasn't the same late in the match.

That was a great match - disappointing but still good to see as a volleyball fan! Great volleyball by both teams.
The Wahine had their chances to win and should have but they just allowed SC back in the match and seemed to run out of gas at the end. Alex Jupiter single-handedly won the match for SC in the fifth.
Great season by the Wahine - they proved they are definitely among the elite and a class act. Congrats to SC for also fighting hard for each point. I agree that it's unfortunate that this match had to be a third round match.
I will miss seeing Kanani - she is special. I'm so grateful she played for the Wahine so we all had the opportunity to see her incredible play. I'm also glad that she was able to play in front of the home crowd to end the season. The future looks really bright for the Wahine. Croson was amazing! We get Croson (maybe Falyn), Uiato and the two best middles back in Hewitt and Hartong. I'm already excited about next years team!
Pepperdine played very well tonight. I think they could take USC tomorrow. It should be a good one.

She just goes for it every time she gets near the ball.

I also agree. Kelly knows her stuff and she was prepared quite well coming into this match. I think Kelly can be a very good announcer. She needs (LOL now I'm doing it) back away a little from saying things like "she nEEEds to......" Call the match and maybe rephrase somethings here and there. I also agree with Tom Clen that sometimes its OK to just listen to the crowd noise, the ball hitting the court, the sound of the game. She does not need to fill every single second with verbiage. That said, she really is much better than many give her credit (or lack there of) for.

I hope the NCAA feels really effing stupid that this was a regional semi and not a final four match!! Why would they feel stupid. The Regional finals were supposed to be Nebraska vs USC/Hawaii. That would have been an epic match had Nebraska not lost. Yes it would have been an unbalanced bracket with 3 top 5 teams in the same bracket but it didn't turn out this way.

I will be interested in seeing how Jupiter holds up tomorrow because she took 74 swings and scored half of the kills for USC. Someone else is going to need to rise to the occasion and take some of the pressure off of her because she must have a very sore, tired arm right now.

The crowd was amazing ... and never let up. And gave a deserving standing ovation to both teams. I was proud to be in the stands in a sellout crowd!
I love that Hawaii (and Nebraska) are unique in the support their fans give the sport. It's a badge their fans can wear proudly ...
But I really wish volleyball had a following like this everywhere! Then it'd be a ratings-grabber and revenue generator. And then the NCAA wouldn't give the sport step-child treatment... And we wouldn't be arguing over how ridiculous directives to the committee have resulted in another mishandled/unbalanced bracket! And matchups like this then wouldn't happen in the 3rd round, but in later rounds or in the Final Four, like they should be.
Tonight though -- win or lose -- was just a great night to be a fan!

Amen to that.

Three hours later and I am still depressed about the Wahine losing. Even after Hawaii lost the second game I was pretty sure they would pull it out. They seemed to have 2 and 4 in the palm of their hands and it just eluded them. I'm putting this match right up there with the 95 team losing in five. This could have been their year.

In retrospect, I guess games 1 and 3 could have gone either way as well, so it is what it is... thank you Wahine for a great season and giving it your all in a great match.
