I would have thought that Penn St. would have dropped back in the rankings with their losses to UC Irvine and Long Beach St, and going 1-3 on their West Coast run (the 1 V coming at the expense of UCSB).

Why drop them? They beat UCSB ranked above them, they lose to Irvine (losing their starting setter in the match) They bench most of their starters against a non counting NAIA school, and Long Beach barely beats them in 5 with their back up setter playing. All of this on the road oh by the way.
