IT was 40 some days since the last time those teams played. College football seems like it has been over for so long. Even the rest of the Bowl games were a while ago.
Did anyone bother to watch the game last night?
I didn't even turn it on for a play.

I had forgotten, and by the time I remembered, I had heard that it was a crappy game. I saw a few plays and went to bed. It WAS a crappy game.

Love the way people dismiss games so easily.
Alabama's defense was dominant and national championship worthy.
I guess those who want 100+ points like the Baylor / Washington Alamo Bowl game were disappointed!

Watched the game with a couple of German VB players out here for winter training, their first American football game. They both fell asleep by the middle of the 3rd quarter. I only stayed awake because I had Alabama on a parlay, taking 'Bama against the spread combined with the under. Which worked out well. But 12 punts, 7 field goal attempts 1 late TD? 'Bama will rightly have a number of defensive players picked in the NFL draft, that's a very good defense. But the level of ineptitude on offense was still astonishing. Blech. Give me a game like '06 Texas-USC anytime.
Also, the lowest rated BCS national championship game in history. Phaedrus had a lot of company last night.

Wait. Is this the game Newt, Rick S and Mitt wanted to watch Saturday night? No wonder ratings were so low.

Didn't watch it. Didn't care. Didn't even know it was last night.
I don't watch the Superbowl either. And I don't care about the Superbowl. But I have to admit, it's impossible to not know when it is Superbowl Sunday. The BCS title match has a long way to go if they want to try to match that kind of media awareness.

I watched and can appreciate a definsive struggle, however I kept thinking about how Okie St would have done against either Bama or LSU. Not sure it would've been the same type of game.

I watched the game. And I watched several of the 'bowl' games this year, but, to me, the NCAA and BCS have weakened what was once a great tradition.
I used to love New Years Day for college football. Oh, there were a few other bowl games in December that were okay, but January 1 was a football feast. Every game was meaningful and then there were the constant debates about who was really number one.
Sure, they tried to come up with a plan to eliminate the controversy and crown a true champion. But, to me, they have not done that. Instead, what they have done is make all the other bowl games just about meaningless. Whats the point of games like UW/Baylor? Or Oregon/Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl? The Rose Bowl!!! Which used to mean something, now just another game with no bearing on much of anything.
I'd must rather see a return to no BCS and no championship game and just the good old January 1 bowl matchups. That's not going to happen, of course. Next we're bound to have some sort of 4-team playoff system. Which, again, means 2 or 3 important bowl games and all the rest will be for nothing.
Shame.
