Busto will need some more firepower to back up last years performance, with who they lost! They bring in Kozuch at OPP, Brinker at OH and Arrighetti at MB. Has this happened, or just a proposal? Lots of expensive, All Star talent, though not convinced that's worth it.

Arrighetti is confirmed. Brinker and Kozuch still unofficial. Busto will be playing in the Champions League this year with high expectations after last year's season thus their investing. Not sure Kozuch and Brinker are an improvement over the Czechs.

Tarah Murrey rumoured to have signed with Giaveno where she'd be Engle's teammate.

Congrats to Tarah. It will be a great opportunity for her to play in A1. I am just concerned about her passing. Hopefully she can figure it out, but I definitely see her making it as an opposite if she cant make it on the outside

Yes, they will be promoted to A1 next season.
Tarah's passing will be her weak point but I don't foresee it being bad enough to make her an opposite. If Faucette and Klineman can play position 4 with limited ability at the skill, Murrey can definitely do it.

I agree with USAFan to some degree but I don't think Faucette has really done all that well as a pro. She didn't play hardly at all last year. I think both Tarah and Faucette would be better off in the long run on the right side.
Klineman is a little different, although it could be debated that even she would be better off as an opposite.
That's the USA's problem. Offensively the outsides are solid. However with the exception of Larson, the young outsides for the US struggle with passing and defense, with only a few exceptions.

Larson also struggled with passing her first two-year stint with the national team. The young outsides will be fine. Just give them some time.

It's not purely economical. From the sounds of it, politics is involved. Fenerbahce were counting on getting a wildcard to Champions League for next season but were surprised to learn they were denied. Without a spot in Champions League, it changes their goals for next season, the level of sponsorship and the kind of players they need in the team. That's CEV's official communication about Fenerbahce's disqualification: "Luxembourg, May 22, 2012. After the starting field for the 2013 edition of the CEV Volleyball Champions League was recently finalized with an extension of the participating teams in both genders, the European Volleyball Confederation is hereby strongly stressing out that wild-cards to join Europe’s most elitist and prestigious club competition are assigned at its sole discretion, after a thorough analysis of the applications submitted by the various National Federations. However, as far as the non-inclusion of last year’s winners of the women’s competition, Fenerbahce Universal ISTANBUL, is concerned, the CEV would like to stress that the rejection of their application is motivated by the mis-behavior of the above mentioned club during the past season and especially in combination with the final four held this past March 24-25 in Baku, Azerbaijan, and to the many problems players and officials of Fenerbahce caused to the CEV authorities on site there. While appreciating the sportive performance delivered by the team of Fenerbahce Universal ISTANBUL throughout the 2012 season, still the CEV felt such mis-behavior reflected a lack of respect towards Europe’s Volleyball governing body and its partners. Additionally, the club was duly informed and pre-alerted that after going through the reports delivered after the final, the CEV may have decided to follow this up by issuing financial and sportive sanctions which reflect the CEV intention to guarantee the necessary fair play and protect the image of the sport. The CEV did not receive any statement or reaction from the club of Fenerbahce, or any commitment to stay loyal to the principles promoted by the CEV and generally associated to the sport. The CEV is hence not going to review this decision fully trusting all fans that this difficult move will be fully understood as it is meant to send a strong signal for the good of our sport."

For those wondering what misbehavior CEV is referring to, here's Fenerbahce fans' Letter to CEVExclusion from Champions League (Wildcard) is a particularly strong punishment for staying at a different hotel or wearing a different colored-jersey especially when financial sanctions are more usual. Rumors abound that the Turkish Federation President (who is anti-Fenerbahce) has CEV's ear. There is obviously more to the story but it's better to stick to player transfers in this thread.

Would I be amiss in assuming that Fenerbache didn't stay in the "specified" hotel, thus depriving CEV of the requisite kickbacks? Shades of JO.

According to the letter, Fenerbahce Universal stayed in another hotel in Azerbaijan because the "assigned" hotel had prostitutes.

According to the letter, Fenerbahce Universal stayed in another hotel in Azerbaijan because the "assigned" hotel had prostitutes. Which is probably why all the dirty old men who run international volleyball federations selected it in the first place.

Alright, to get this back on track and off Fener...
Nellie Spicer has signed with TED Kolej in Ankara Turkey. She posted this on her twitter. Big step down from Rabita but at least she will get to play. I am confident she will prove herself as a great setter in Turkey!
Good luck Nellie!
