Really? You see parents trying to collect Easter eggs?
I'm sorry, but this is a stupid conclusion to make. The organization of the event was not suited to the size of the thing, and a mob mentality took over. Ever see people waiting in a long line and then a few people just cut to the front and grab what they want? If they aren't stopped, then pretty soon it's a free-for-all as it becomes clear that waiting in line is not rewarded behavior. That has nothing to do with "helicopter parents," it has to do with social conventions breaking down.

I will stick with the spin provided. Social conventions at a easter egg hunt breaking down ....really? Ok whatever you say boss. www.thegatewaypundit.com/2012/03/aggressive-parents-force-colorado-town-to-cancel-easter-egg-hunt-video/

The event was supposed to be for little kids and to provide them with a large and festive time to gather Easter eggs as befitting tradition. Most people would have the good sense to recognize the event for what it is and allow the kids to run around and do their thing, with the caveat that the parents would run in if their child is in any kind of danger. By the sound of this report, it seems that the goal of the parents involved is to grab at as much $0.20 worth of chocolate as they can muster for their darling children. Which makes no sense monetarily nor culturally. I can see where coming to the helicopter parent conclusion is pretty straight forward.

I will stick with the spin provided. I am spinning the same way you are. I have seen little league, soccer and p-wee football parents with the same behavior traits in action.

Wow. Don't know what to say. When I was a kid, I remember a few of these things. Parents weren't allowed in the hunt area because it was the kids' place.
I'd be terrified if adults were allowed en masse around children like that. I'm surprised nobody got sued if a kid was injured.
