A d3 school in New Haven, CT just announced they are adding Men's Volleyball as a varsity sport for 2007-2008.
Anyone want to coach here is the AD:
Head Volleyball Coach Albertus Magnus College is seeking a motivated and energetic part-time Head Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Coach. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; oversight of all aspects of planning, managing, and maintaining a successful volleyball program. Previous playing or coaching experience is highly desirable. Candidates must have a strong commitment to the NCAA Division III Philosophy and a strong commitment to recruit quality student-athletes for an academically selective institution. good for the school and for the NECVA because that is where they surely will go. Unless they apply to the EIVA.

wow that makes 3 new programs for next year. this college, st andrews, and suny tech. this seems like a good sign for men's volleyball.
now if only the florida schools would do it.

Florida tried and there was an enormous burden when the school was alone in West Palm. The model to follow seems to be the one in North Carolina. They have a conference who seems to have a grasp on building within and growing slowly. At the very least they will have opportunities to play. The most puzzling of all of this is the West Coast Division III as there are some that have clubs but will not go Varsity due to many different reasons.
