I, like most people, am very skeptical about remakes. It seems the only ones that are good are remakes of movies that were obscure, foreign, or just so old that nobody remembers them.

There are many movies that really don't need to be remade. This is one. Don't see a point of the three stooges movie either.
Has there ever been a remake of a successful movie, especially a "cult" classic?

I quite enjoyed the re-boot of Star Trek. Others...Heaven Can Wait (remake of Here Comes Mr. Jordan), The Thing (loved the first one, but really liked the John Carpenter remake), Cape Fear, True Grit, Casino Royale. The Magnificent Seven is a remake of Seven Samurai, of course, but if I start getting into U.S. remakes of foreign films the list would be endless.
