For the Olympic season, discussion surrounding the 2012 London Olympics should be considered to be placed in the London Olympics forum.
This should include all qualifiers, national team discussion leading to the Olympics and events surrounding the Olympics.
I know that quite a few of you have a lot of interests and may even be attending. Consider this forum a place to keep Olympic discussion on topic.

So you're telling me I have to go to the Olympics board to discuss The Men's National Team? A board where there will probably be way more discussion of the women's team and other sports? No thank you. USA Men's National Team volleyball falls into the category of men's volleyball, so it should be accurate to discuss it under either forum. The Olympic board will get flooded with way too much non-Men's National Team talk. Why not just let us have our men's forum and discuss ALL men's volleyball within it?

Oh, the horrors of actually maybe introducing fans of women's VB to the issues and news of the men's team, or vice versa....
By the way, Odin, thanks.

That's not the issue. The issue is there are easily twice as many people at any given time reading/posting on the women's board. News and discussion of the men's team will be way overshadowed by the women's side, simply given that there are lots more people on that board.

And that's why the first post about a match being played is a men's match?
Unlike college VB, there are not 300 women's teams and 20 men's teams. There are 12 women's teams and 12 men's teams.
The 2008 Olympics board didn't work out so badly, I thought.

Just seems strange to have to separate it. World League 2012 will take place this summer, with the US Men's National Team, but it's got nothing to do with the Olympics. So, we can discuss the team's play at World League in one forum, but the next month, we have to discuss the same team in a different forum. Doesn't make sense.

IMO, all National Team news (including tournaments) leading up to the Olympics are on-topic for this forum.

I don't think that the tournaments leading up to the Olympics should be discussed in a forum for the Olympics. The forum for the Olympics should contain threads about the Olympics, not the every little story about the National Teams.
It's the Olympic forum. Not the National Team forum.

Which is why it's silly to have 2 forums. One week, it's appropriate to discuss the team in the Men's forum. But the next week, we have to discuss them in the Olympic forum. Just doesn't seem very logical.

On the women's board, discussion of Northwestern University is overshadowed by discussion of....well, everything else. How about a separate board for Northwestern so I don't have to plow through all the other threads to get to what I want to read? Your argument seems weak. You just read through the thread titles and ignore the ones about the Women's team.

volleyballhawk, I have a few suggestions for you:
1. You can bookmark a thread that way even if it does get pushed off of the first page it's still easily accessible for you to follow regardless of what forum it's on. 2. This is Volleytalk not Communist China. If you want to post men's NT information and WL information in the men's forum by all means do it. No one is going to force you to move your posts anywhere as long as it's gender and or sand/indoor appropriate. 3. The proportion of posters on this board that are interested in the NT is dwarfed by that of the NCAA followers. No matter how obscure the post it will probably be the same posters on NT threads and you or they will always find a way to participate in the conversation. 4. No offense to either you or All-American but you weren't here for the last Olympics but during the actual games there is an insane amount of coverage regarding everything under the sun and people want to discuss that. You'll see when the games actually start the use of a separated forum. 5. It's the mother-effing Olympics!!!! It happens once every four years and I believe you have the cognitive capacity to be able to post across two forums.

Check out the last Olympics board to see how well it was received. 8. I agree with whomever said they didn't want to sift through the Northwestern crap or if Falyn is going to start this fall. There is a place for every discussion and Odin has spoken. Do not anger the God.
