Sunday between 10:30 and 11:00am, Pacific time on ESPNews. Can't wait to find out who will get the at-large bid. But seriously, who is the #1 seed, Pepperdine or UCI? Pepperdine with the better record, but UCI with the conference championship. Who is the #3 seed, Penn State or IPFW? Penn State ranked higher, but IPFW beats a team ranked about Penn State.

But seriously, who is the #1 seed, Pepperdine or UCI? Pepperdine with the better record, but UCI with the conference championship. Usually, the winner of the MPSF will get the top seed. So the seeds will probably be #1 UCI v. #4 IPFW #2 Pepperdine v. #3 Penn State

Last year UCI was the # 1 seed after winning the regular season Mountain Pacific Conference. Look for Pepperdine to be #1 , UCI #2, PennState #3, and IPFW #4.

I am not sure what the argument would be for PSU as the #3. If you look at head to head, they split with IPFW playing more competitive at PSU then PSU did at IPFW. Common opponents: OSU: PSU - 1-1 each winning on home floor IPFW - 1-2 losing both regular season and dominating MIVA tournament Cal Baptist: PSU - lost in 3 IPFW - won in 4 Ball State: PSU - 2-0 IPFW - 1-1 Loyola: PSU - 0-1 IPFW - 2-0
I only posted those matches with a difference in results but it sure looks like the upperhand goes to IPFW

last year UCI was given the #1 seed after losing in the MPSF semis but holding the number 1 spot in the poll all year. i expect itll be #1pepperdine, #2 UCI, #3 penn state and #4ipfw.

Unfortunately, it probably won't matter who is #3 and #4. Watching all three Finals on CSTV, Pepperdine and UCI are playing at a much higher level (to state the absolute obvious). The play of those two teams is incredible. What a great match to watch. As an aside, loved the commentary by Blanton and McGee. It sure is nice to have two actual players do the commentary. Wish CSTV would have brought Mike Dodd back for the MIVA final. IPFW is playing great right now, but it is pick your poison. I would presume that IPFW would give the better showing only because they have faced a tougher road to get to the FInal Four than PSU (no offense to Saint Francis) by sweeping Loyola and OSU with relative ease.

Marv... Men's Volleyball needs more fans.
"Uhh, you know, uhh they have a lot of firepower, uhh, I don't know the specifics, they won't beat themselves..." What?
As bad an interview as I've heard in months.

uci wouldn't have the seedings any other way. they have to exercise their demons from the past:
1) haven't won more than 1 playoff game: done, this year uci has won 3.
2) hosted last year and got swept by long beach: this year, won mpsf through as tough of a road as you can get (hawaii, byu, pepp).
3) lost to penn state in five as a 1 seed in the final four. they need to get over this hump!

I would have to agree with this. PSU and IPFW are going to get throttled in the semis. I would have ranked IPFW above PSU but it won't make any difference. IPFW might have the firepower to hang with Pepperdine for a little while but Pepperdine's serving and passing with put too much pressure on the Dons. IPFW will need career nights from all seven players to pull this one off. And btw Marv, I have seen IPFW and PSU both selfdestruct this year so don't give them TOO much credit...

I wasn't too impressed with the brief piece, although I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Marv seemed extremely unprepared for the interview, the guy talking was constantly looking at the papers he was holding and stumbling, and what I found most frustrating is the footage they were using, as it always seemed like amateur film and you couldn't see the entire court, thus you never really got an idea of where the hits were landing.
Oh well, at least the games are being covered. Can't wait to watch the Pepp/IPFW match on espn2!
