I rely on you all to do my research, and I thank you.
When will the final roster be announced?
Did Kristin Richards do enough at this last tounament to make it? To me, you get both with her: defensive sub or OH sub. But that is my high personal, biased opinion. Really hope she makes it.
Perhaps this should be in the Olympic section - sorry.

I believe they have to submit the final roster on Monday.
I don't think she's going to make it. I think she's played amazing this weekend and I'd be so happy for her if she did, especially with how she's rocketed up the depth chart this year (passing Barboza, Glass, Pressey), but Hodge is solidly in the 3rd outside spot despite her shanking ways. Given Davis' cramping issues, I'd be surprised if we brought a 4th OH instead of a 2nd libero.
If only the IOC allowed 14 on the roster!

So no Sykoro, either? I'm a sentimental fool-would love to see Kristin and Stacy on the team. Talk about two "feel-good-made-for-NBC-up-close-and-personal" stories to show.
One year I had 21 kids on my JV team-didn't have the heart to cut them. Tough at any level, I'd assume.

Sykora hasn't played a match for the USA since her accident :-( The silver lining is that this week has to be doing tons to raise Kristin's profile. She's already signed a contract for this season, but this has got to help next time she's going to negotiate.

She has said it herself -- she is not going to be on the London Olympic team.

Hoping and praying for Kristin Richards to make it on the Olympic roster this year. I've been a fan since her collegiate days in Stanford...she's fun to watch! That quick arm swing would be perfect with Berg as the setter.

At this point, we should expect the following: OH: Tom, Larson & Hodge MH: Akinradewo, Harmotto & Bown Opp: Hooker & Haneef-Park S: Berg & Glass L: Davis & Miyashiro
The only other players that still have a chance would be Metcalf & Thompson. They may be the alternates.
If Sykora hadn't had the accident, she would probably have gone and started. At least she's had a great career already.

Am I the only person that feels like H-P's spot isn't as solid as everyone else thinks? She's really come down from here 2008 self. Not to say that Metcalf should have the spot. I think HP has Metcalf beat based on blocking. I do feel though, that it is possible to only take the 1 opp (Destinee would never sub out really anyways) and take a 4th OH (Richards). A 3rd setter would be pointless. 4th MB seems kind of useless too. I think its a given at this point that its Foluke, Bown, and Harmotto.

Hooker won't come out barring injury, but if she were injured and HP was the replacement, we'd be in trouble I think. She's severely limited, it's like she's wearing lead boots out there. Other than that double-sub specification, she doesn't have much utility. On the other hand, Metcalf could play all the rotations if needed, is an efficient attacker, still blocks relatively well, and could even be a serve specialist since that left-to-right knuckling movement on her serve seems to give receivers trouble--it's been noticeable in the WGP. I just like what she provides overall. Other than that, I think you pretty much have to take Tama at this point as insurance, plus she does reasonably well on service subs. For me, the Glass/Thompson spot is a coin flip. It doesn't really matter to me, while they're different, I think their overall contribution is equivalent.

Barboza and one of the middles will be likely be cut (Bown or Scott), when most were thinking they'd be on the roster. At least that is the way it seems after the WGP this year.
