At this point, we should expect the following: OH: Tom, Larson & Hodge MH: Akinradewo, Harmotto & Bown Opp: Hooker & Haneef-Park S: Berg & Glass L: Davis & Miyashiro The only other players that still have a chance would be Metcalf & Thompson. They may be the alternates. If Sykora hadn't had the accident, she would probably have gone and started. At least she's had a great career already. I like this roster. It'd be nice to see Scott make another olympic games, but I think you go with the best players you got, and other middles at this point bring a little bit more to the table. I think it will be Glass. If it's true what some on here are saying that Russia may be the biggest obstacle to the gold, with their big pin hitters, then we may need/want to have Glass. Berg is the starting setter, but I think Hugh also has to think of potential matchups, and if Glass can help us matchup blocking-wise with the Russians, then I'd say that decidedly gives her the edge over Thompson. Seeing Glass play the last couple legs of this WGP reminded me of the kind of block they can put up no matter the rotation. The double-sub is what it is ... whether it utilizes Glass or Thompson. As much as I think Thompson has brought great energy off the bench in this WGP, I think Glass can function in that role just as well.

Touché. While Miya%*$#o has been traveling regularly for a while, Harmotto hasn't. Those 10-11 players have been and should be considered our "core," however... Barboza and one of the middles will be likely be cut (Bown or Scott), when most were thinking they'd be on the roster. At least that is the way it seems after the WGP this year. Barboza and a fourth middle aren't listed on the roster that I responded to...

I don't think who the 2nd right side is really matters.
If Hooker isn't in there, they aren't the same team. It's a big drop off.
But I think HP gets the spot. Hugh likes that double sub, and she is a better blocker than Metcalf.

The choice between Glass and Thompson could come down to intangibles.

The choice between Glass and Thompson could come down to intangibles. That's good, because coaches can get in a lot of trouble otherwise.

Hugh will get the best out of his team before confirming the final roster Wouldn't it be preferable to get the best outta the team at the Olympic Games? Just sayin' ...

So no Sykoro, either? I'm a sentimental fool-would love to see Kristin and Stacy on the team. Talk about two "feel-good-made-for-NBC-up-close-and-personal" stories to show. One year I had 21 kids on my JV team-didn't have the heart to cut them. Tough at any level, I'd assume. Sykora already knows. She has said it herself -- she is not going to be on the London Olympic team. That's sad for her. She put in years with the team and if the team wins gold, hopefully she'll be recognized for her contribution. The gold medal doesn't start at the Olympics, but the years leading up and the effort given over those years.

Yes I think she brings a lot to the team and is definitely our best option at OPP, but I think this past week has proven the team has good second-strings at pretty much every position.

The past week only proved our depth could beat a watered-down WGP. Not to take away from the three-peat accomplishment, but the level of play that will be required to win Gold in London will far exceed what we saw this past week. The level of play that we just displayed probably wouldn't medal a month from now. Make no mistake, we NEED Hooker to win Gold. She averages over 5 points/game against other A squads internationally, her wins-above-replacement based on point efficiency is the highest on our entire team, even above Logan Tom. *Not saying Tom is more replaceable, that's debatable based on how much losing her effects Hooker's stats based on passing.

The Olympics is a different playing field....USA has yet to face RUSSIA and ITALY...it will be full of upsets and USA's ranking does not mean or guarantee anything....this is the tournament that makes for all those years of hardwork...in 2004 USA was expected to win the Gold and came in 4th
