Rogers and Dalhausser win in 3 (lost -19 in set 1, won -18 and -13 in sets 2 and 3). Controversey in set 3. With the score 13-12 in favor of the US, Rogers was blocked and the ball came down the net onto his body. He hit it up with his arm. Spain thought Rogers hit it both with his arm and his chest, and the announcers agreed. The refs did not, however, and Dalhausser put it away to take a 14-12 lead.
I disagree with Hererra and the announcers. I don't think that ball touched Rogers twice. I think it hit the crook of his arm, but didn't touch his chest. I could be wrong, but with two replays, I didn't see it hit his chest.
I hope karma doesn't come back to bite the USA later. With the other US team losing last night, I am not particularly confident in the US winning Gold this year.

The general scene at the end of that match reminded me of Washington/Nebraska.

I'm concerned about Rogers' hitting in this deep sand. He doesn't clear the net that much in normal sand and today he really struggled. I would be mildly surprised if they win the gold this time around.
Dalhausser continues beast mode, of course.

Dalhausser continues beast mode, of course. Ummm... Dalhausser's setting was awful today. Rogers struggled, too, but Phil shares some of that blame. He set Todd way too tight consistently in the best weather conditions of the games so far (if you can believe the announcers about the weather). As much as I'm dubious about them winning gold, they, like Misty & Kerri, always seem to find a way to win. They definitely were nowhere near the top of their game today and they still beat a solid Spanish team. Assuming they don't choke against the Czech's, they shouldn't have to have anything close to their A game until the quarters.

Yeah, Rogers had something like 5 errors on those tips over the net. Really bad.
