Interesting article, as I have never seen contract details spelled out specifically for a volleyball coach. the article contains a listing of what the assistants get as well. Jerritt Elliott’s Texas volleyball team achieved what he, and his players, had long coveted: a national championship. And with that accomplishment comes a burnt orange check. According to documents obtained by The Daily Texan, Elliott will take home an additional $77,000 in athletic incentives on top of his yearly salary of $178,000 plus the use of a car. He will also receive $10,000 in academic incentives, bringing his yearly total to $265,000. The 44-year-old Elliott received $10,000 for making the final and $25,000 for winning. He also received $5,000 for each win in the tournament, as well as $5,000 for qualifying. Other athletic incentives include $15,000 for winning the Big 12 Conference Championship, $2,000 for winning Big 12 Coach of the Year and $5,000 for winning the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s National Coach of the Year. www.dailytexanonline.com/news/2013/01/21/volleyball-head-coach-jerritt-elliott-staff-rewarded-for-national-championship-win

Ironically, the quote from Jerritt Elliott on the cover of this month's issue of Volleyball magazine I just got today under "TEXAS TAKES TITLE" is "This is the only thing that money can't buy" ;D

I guess it's not always true that happiness can't buy you money.

All Texas coaches have incentives built into their contracts.
When I learned about Elliott's contract amount awhile back, I was surprised how low it was relative to his success and the amounts paid some of the other coaches. For example, I believe the previous women's basketball coach was making between $1 and $2 million per year. I think the new women's basketball coach is making $600,000 per year.
I hope Elliott's coach is renegotiated by AD Plonsky.

Elliott is one of the coaches where their "salary" doesnt really refllect how much he makes. on paper it appears someone like Cook makes nearly 200k more, that isnt the case. I would say that Texas bonus system for winning is WAAAAAY better than anyone else. Must have been a nice Christmas for Texas coaches.

I disagree, I believe that Cook gets a month salary for winning the Big 10. He makes 350k so that would mean he almost got 30k for winning it compared to Elliott's 15k. As a base Cook does make more.

I believe that most top tier programs are moving into the incentive based contract for both Head and Assistant coaches. A former colleague recently joined the PAC 16 last year and built a padding of about $20,000 extra in incentives.

What coaches are enjoying the best contracts or salaries now? Does cost of living come into consideration? Seems like the SoCal area would be a high salary region. Can anybody be getting more than Cook?

I would think that Rose would be the highest... Does Penn State just not pay their coaches as well as Nebraska? What about Haley at SC? I suppose the Olympic coach got a pretty penny at Minnesota U.

Russ should be IMO but he does pretty well for himself. Haley would be one of the highest paid along with Gimillaro, Hugh, and a handful of others. Certainly cost of living means a ton.

Wow, I am in the wrong state!!! I spent one season as an assistant at a DI program and made a whopping 30k for the year, and got no overtime pay.

The salaries does not reflect what they make. Camp money is a huge chunk of change four the namer coaches.
