Read her Twitter page. A link can be found through Google. She committed while playing in a tournament at Penn State. She says it has been her dream to play for Penn State ever since the 6th grade. I put her athletic ability at the Christa Harmotto level. I remember how well that worked out. Not even close bro.

I don't see how people can so easily dismiss a comparison of Tori with Christa. I have seen film of Tori, who will be a junior in H.S., and I have seen Christa at a similar age. A comparison of Tori with Christa in her junior and senior years at PSU is unfair, but I see similarities between Tori and Christa in H.S. and can see the potential. In any event, I think Russ has landed a well spoken, talented, and appreciative young lady who will be an asset to the Penn State team in the future.

This is a really nice player and athlete, Christa was a freak of an athlete.

While they have similarities, both are very good off one foot, Harmotto was on another level as an athlete. PSU got a great kid, from a great program, but lets not get ahead of ourselves, and not burden this kid with that type of comparison.

I am not imposing any burden on Tori. I am only pointing out what I see as similar abilities, as you (Dorothy) just mentioned. Just as any athlete going to any program that has produced great players in the past, they already know that comparisons will be made with others who played the same position. This applies to all sports and, in particular, to those institutions known to excel in a particular sport. In WVB it is the USC's, Stanford's, UT's, Nebraska's, Penn State's, et. al. A poster above made a comparison of Heidi Thelen to Blair Brown, who I consider the epitome RS at Penn State, yet no one has taken them to task. I see the similarities of Tori and Christa, future events will determine if I, or you (implying all doubters), are correct.

She is not going to take Washington's spot for the 3 years she's there so MAYBE she has a chance to compete for the other spot? But I doubt it coming from Canada.

How about Sarah Pavin, Tabi Love, Stacey Gordon, and probably multitudes of others I forgot in WVB and certainly in other sports? How about Christine Sinclair in Women's Soccer? I try to elevate an athlete's potential and you all try to denigrate it. Shame on you.

Nowhere near as athletic as Harmotto is/was. And the reason no one said anything about the Thelen/Brown comparison is because it's actually pretty accurate.

I'm not sure whether she is on scholarship, I'm sure as 2015 approaches we will know for sure. As well, I didn't realize that Canadians were so bad at volleyball! I guess I will just tell all the 2013s coming down to play in the NCAA next year that it won't be worth it.

To be fair, I haven't seen anyone denigrate the player, more question the comparison to one of the all time great middles. Of course the posters comment about Canada shouldn't even be responded too.

Tori has a lot of potential and will develop her own style. She will be a very productive player regardless of what position she plays. Does anyone know how she serves?

Does anyone know how she serves? the usual answer to this question about a middle blocker is "who cares" Not trying to be snarky, but seeing as there is a better than great chance she never will, its not really an issue.
