I really hope she does well at Penn State. More importantly, I know that going to PSU was her dream, but I hope she did her homework. Did she check out how many years current players have remaining, the recruiting classes for 2013 and 2014 and where she will fit. I don't know for certain, but if I was a betting person I would guess that the flattery of being recruited by Penn State was the major factor in her decision.

Well, you could also look at it as "did Russ Rose do his homework" Evidently PSU felt she could play there. Her father was a big time athlete, she comes from a great club with a smart coach, I am certain she is aware of the level of talent at PSU, and how hard it will be to make her way on to the floor. It appears both PSU and the athlete feel she is up to the challenge. Wasn't how great the program was at Nebraska a major factor for Pavan?

Not really, the lady has 4 years to show her talent and I will be watching. Get over yourself. You're wrong, as usual.

I am not imposing any burden on Tori. I am only pointing out what I see as similar abilities, as you (Dorothy) just mentioned. Just as any athlete going to any program that has produced great players in the past, they already know that comparisons will be made with others who played the same position. This applies to all sports and, in particular, to those institutions known to excel in a particular sport. In WVB it is the USC's, Stanford's, UT's, Nebraska's, Penn State's, et. al. A poster above made a comparison of Heidi Thelen to Blair Brown, who I consider the epitome RS at Penn State, yet no one has taken them to task. I see the similarities of Tori and Christa, future events will determine if I, or you (implying all doubters), are correct. Dude, get off her ass. She's probably just a walk-on. Nowhere near as athletic as Harmotto is/was. And the reason no one said anything about the Thelen/Brown comparison is because it's actually pretty accurate. Thelen is nothing like Brown.

You are right, Chiso goes from one extreme to the other. Thelen is definitely not like Brown and Gorrell is very quick for a middle. Next year we might have a much better idea of who else is coming in for 2015. PSU is putting a solid group of players again.

Well in looking at this grouping PSU along with these next 2 years has the makings of a program to be in the mix many many years to come. I would suspect that maybe a Redshirt year might be thrown in the '14's class which would translate to adding to the '15 class. 2015 2 Caraway, Lara DS 5-4 4/Sr. Open/RS Open 3 Pierce, Kendall DS/L 5-6 4/Sr. Open/RS Open 8 Denny, Erica MH 6-5 4/Sr. (RS) Open 9 Prieto Paulina OH 6-1 3/Jr. (RS) 4/Sr. (RS) 17 Courtney, Megan OH/S 6-2 4/Sr. Open/RS Open 2013 Broerman, Laura DS/L 5-4 3/Jr. 4/Sr. Open/RS 2013 Krause, Taylor DS/L 5-6 3/Jr. 4/Sr. Open/RS 2013 Muller, Carley DS/L 5-9 3/Jr. 4/Sr. Open/RS 2013 Robertson, Kelly MH 6-0 3/Jr. 4/Sr. Open/RS 2014 Frantti, Ali OH 6-1 2/So. 3/Jr. 4/Sr. 2014 Lee, Simone OH 6-1 2/So. 3/Jr. 4/Sr. 2014 Pierce, Lainy DS/L 5-8 2/So. 3/Jr. 4/Sr. 2014 Reed, Nia OH 6-2 2/So. 3/Jr. 4/Sr. 2014 Thelen, Heidi MH 6-3 2/So. 3/Jr. 4/Sr. 2014 Washington, Haleigh MH 6-4 2/So. 3/Jr. 4/Sr. 2014 Weiskircher, Bryanna S 6-0 2/So. 3/Jr. 4/Sr. 2015 Canulli, Natalie L 5-9 1/Fr. 2/So. 3/Jr. 2015 Gorrell, Tori MH 6-2 1/Fr. 2/So. 3/Jr. Most Importantly Welcome Tori!

Thelen is very similar to Brown and will most likely play a similar role at PSU. I never said Gorrell wasn't quick, I said she's not the next Harmotto.

ok, I give up. What is similar to Brown? Same height, same build, both started off as middles but moved to the right. Brown's armswing is quicker but they're still very similar players.

Brown was quicker with a higher lift, was more athletic, and definitely had a quicker armswing. Other than that they are identical. RR will do wonders with Thelen just like he did with Brown.

Looks to me like they are different height and different build. Thelen was recruited as a middle and has projected as a middle at Penn State though that of course could change. Brown is a much better athlete and that was true when she was younger too. But maybe your projection will turn out to be correct. Time will tell.
