I watched A Simple Favor today and it was decent. While not a great movie, I liked how it added black comedy to keep it fresh from the current wave of Gone Girl, Girl On A Train, etc. type movies. Anna Kendrick was adorable as always. The book supposedly tells things from alternating characters so I’m thinking of reading it once I finish the current book I’m into.

Look at Gwyneth Paltrow. Now the best she can do is an extra in Iron Man movies? She's too busy selling snake oil miracle cures to do much acting anymore.

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she was driven to it by the lack of jobs, but you could be right. She was a talented actress. Once upon a time.

Was there really a need to remake Mary Poppins?

I watched Valerian and the city of 1000 planets, and I'm not sure why it was panned as a failure. The first half was fun, imaginative action. The second half was a bit formulaic, but not any more formulaic than most action movies. Perhaps the issue is that it was made by a fan of the comic book for fans of the comic book, and people less familiar with the source material weren't invested in the characters.

I remember when Mars Attacks came out in the theaters and it received negative reviews. I thought it was awesome and concluded that everyone else was stupid.
There have been a bunch of movies like that -- where I thought it was great to genius while others hated it.

Has anyone seen Mamma Mia Here We Go Again? My significant other is egging me on to watch it with her. It's a chick flick and not usually my favorite genre. And ABBA music...I can tolerate it, maybe on occasion even induldge in it as a kind of guilty pleasure, but on the whole, it's not my type of music. So as a guy, would I be able to sit through it?

Couple xanax and a double martini and you should be good to go.

Just saw Aquaman, yesterday. Was pleasantly surprised even though not really a fan of Jason Momoa.

I rewatched A Clockwork Orange a few days ago. While I don’t watch it often, only every few years, I’m still impressed by it every time.
Although I was originally going to skip it, I watched Peppermint yesterday due to my mother suggesting it. Obviously it was unrealistic and the plot twist was easy to spot but it was watchable. It felt like it should be a comic book (very similar to The Punisher and others) but at least it was better than Garner’s previous attempt of Elektra in that genre.
