Or a kid from San Diego simply wanted to go home. Any number of reasons for a transfer. Or CJL was at her wit's end with Hudson's practice habits and coachability. sounds shady

How do you find out about schools who are looking for positions to be filled? Rich Kern has some but not the ones that are listed here.

Sassin, Gardiner, and McVey all left Mississippi State and ended up at pretty good programs (Kansas State, Oklahoma, Louisville).
What's going on in Starkville? It's almost like Tennessee from last season.

It's almost like Tennessee from last season. 7 of 12 players with remaining eligibility left after the 2012 season. Several left volleyball so it didn't draw attention on the transfers board. Scott, their best outside hitter is also leaving this year. With all the attention Tennessee got Mississippi State has been under the radar, but mass defections 2 years in a row will start raising eyebrows.

Gardiner is a loss. Sassin has good potential but a bit of a project. Scott in undersized but still a good OH. And this is NOT Tennessee all over again.

Are they bringing in anohter setter or are they counting on the 5'6" transfer from Alaska or is Horner the real deal?

Career 18-80 SEC record. 11 players leaving team over 2 years period. First 2 AVCA HM AAs in program history and they both leave. And still no mention of her being relieved of her duties? These are just the facts. Throw in all the rumors and the picture is bleaker than you can even imagine. This is bigger than a coaching staff issue, its a total breakdown of the Athletic Department administration. No this isn't Tennessee. Its much worse. I know MSU will never be a volleyball powerhouse, but as an MSU alum I expect more oversight and leadership than this administration is providing.

Updates: Outside: Brook Sassin - 5'11" Sophomore - Mississippi State/Kansas State Setter: Val Jeffery - 6'0" Sophomore- High Point/Youngstown State Middle: Kaity Edwards - 6'2" RS Freshman - Wyoming/Santa Clara WOW shocked Val Jeffrey is leaving HPU. I know she didnt play a lot but she knew about the setting situation before she got there. Oh well best of luck for sure, she is a great setter!

I saw the Emily Meng one coming, she was the starting (5-1) setter the first half of the season and then was replaced by the Libero at setter. The libero averaged 5 BHE's a match but I guess she was tired of Emily as she was only put in sparingly.

Recruits are Not lining up to go there. Jenny gets the bottom of the barrel as most would rather go to any other school in the SEC. If you look at their schedule this year, they won all the games they were expected plus 1. All the teams they lost to made it to the dance and Auburn almost did. Ole Miss was greatly improved this year with a better setter and a libero coming in. They beat South Carolina which A&M lost to once. I think you may be too personally involved to be objective. No, this is NOT Tennessee and volleyball is not expected to do much better... Are you expecting them to beat Florida, Kentucky, A&M, LSU, Alabama or even Georigia? ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

What? A mountain out of a mole-hill? Mississippi is in the SEC, and their volleyball is at the bottom of the ranks there - and has fallen even further down with their coach of five years. The freshman class was good, along with the returning few who had the guts to continue with the program. I have watched MSU play a few times over the last two years. Kudos to the players - they played hard, and they weren't bad. I was thinking when I read the posts about players leaving - wow! Good for them! When does the responsibility fall on the coaching? Had that coach been anywhere else, she would have been gone. Was it the players or the coaching - the head coach, that is? And what was the before mentioned post about the assistant AD resigning? Was this because of volleyball, or had he/she found a job elsewhere?
