Washington might be the favorites next season to win the national title. I won't be surprised if they do. The huskies will be crazy good next season with a stellar freshmen class coming in. Excited to see how they do next season.

Washington's problem was this was that they couldn't get consistent offense from anyone other than Vansant. They got very consistent offense from Nelson and Sybeldon (when they could get Lianna a decent set).

Excited to see how they do next season. Way too many new pieces of the puzzle to say that right now! We need to see how they can fit together.

Condie and Magraw are the other L/DSs on the roster. Meyer-Whalley committed for 2014, but did not sign an NLI. If she arrives in the fall, she can play both setter and libero. I've seen some video of her - she's a very good digger and could be a longer-term solution at libero. She's a bit short to play setter in a 5-1. Can Condie, Magraw and Meyer-Whalley provide what Strickland can in terms of passing and defense (and serving)? I ask because one of the reasons she had to be an OH2 was because they needed her to pass six rotations, right? So with all these new hitters coming in, will Strickland still contend for the OH2 spot? She can't be a three-rotation DS, right? They need her in the passing formation.

Excited to see how they do next season. There's no way the favorites to win the title, let alone the PAC 12. They lose Orlandini and Nogueras. It's gonna be tough to fill in those shoes.

This year the backrow duties were taken up by the setters (3 rotations each), Vansant and Strickland (3 rotations each), and Orlandini (5.5 rotations). Wade also played back there in the rotation where she served. If Strickland goes to libero replacing Orlandini, that means some other hitter has to take up her backrow role for three rotations.

Well, if Strickland stays at OH2, somebody else has to play libero, unless we play without one... Ultimately it isn't about who is playing at this or that position, but which players, playing at whichever positions, make for the best team. If Tanner sets back row and hits front row, that saves two subs every six rotations vs double-subbing for both setters. If necessary, those subs can be used to sub a DS for the OH2 in the back row. Who that might be remains to be seen.

Orlandini was nothing special. Strickland will fill in nicely for her and then some. Nogueras is better than Beals but not by much. Like I said before, the setter position will be their biggest question mark.

The did get great offense from Nelson and Sybeldon WHEN they could get good sets. But too often they couldnt produce those good sets, especially to Sybeldon.

Yes, and the passing duties as well. Strickland was a six-rotation passer with Vansant and Orlandini, right?
