"Winsconsin." Nice one. Minnesota has only "Minnesnowta," which really isn't a good thing.

The U just picked up Erica Handley from Syracuse. I wonder if she's on scholie.... Three scholarship athletes graduated, only two players coming in next year. Even if both of them are on scholarship, seems like there's at least a little wiggle room for a 6'1" setter. (And I wonder if that answers the mystery of the "Available Setter" thread.)

Oh, geez. Not another setter.
I do not understand why we have so many setters on the roster. If this means a continuation of the front row/back row crap, I may scream.

ROSADO is NOT coming. The U is "privately" advertising they have a full ride LIBERO spot open as of 2014 Rosado took a VISIT to the U of M as of 7 weeks ago, and had been staying in NEW JERSEY for the past 5 weeks. That bolding words stuff is FUN, isn't it?!

If I recall correctly, Maddie Beal has actually not signed a NLI. So it's just Lohman right now.

As an ACC fan, I've seen Erica Handley play a couple times against top 25 teams, and she can definitely hold her own. I don't think she would fit in to a 6-2 system well, as her sets are not yet very precise and her middle connections were spotty (granted, the Syracuse middles were nothing special and the talent at Minnesota is much higher), but her blocking was superb. She won a couple FOW awards and I was surprised she wasn't on the all-frosh team, as she led a team picked to finish 14th in the ACC to a positive conference record and tie for 5th place. The coach didn't use her well, and the constant berating may be part of the reason she transferred. With a good coach, I think she could run a 5-1 next ear if Schau is unable and the setting isn't consistent enough to stick with the 6-2. I'm surprised Handley wasn't more heavily recruited,, as she led Lakeville North, one of the top Minnesota high school volleyball schools, to the AAA championship and a #4 national ranking. I'd be happy that she transferred.

I find it interesting that Erica Handley is listed as 10th all-time in career assists for Syracuse after just one season.

Have the Minnesota faithful formed any opinion of Hugh's recruiting effectiveness? It is often difficult for coaches who move from pro sports to college sports to recruit effectively, least immediately. There is a learning curve. It's also true that some just don't like to do it. Hugh's first recruiting class was this year and according to prepvolleyball was ranked 3rd in the nation.

You're kidding yourself if you think Hugh did anything.

Syracuse was the Silvi show and not much else, at least she'll have some options at Minnesota.

You're kidding yourself if you think Hugh did anything. this is true. and the kid who was originally going to wisconsin was not recruited. she called them. that leaves schau and the twins who committed before hugh was with the team. and the pr libero who couldn't get in. not sure minnesota has recruited anyone since hugh's been there who's rated really high except the 2015 setter and i'm unclear as to when she committed. transfers, projects and walk-ons. so far.
