There was some discussion in this forum about the assistant coaches and there was a suggestion that Salima might replace RR when he decides to leave. I know very few female coaches beyond Mary Wise and the lady at Yale and wonder if there is some opposition to having females as head coaches. Do players prefer male coaches? Here in Pa. many of the high schools have women as head coaches and the club scene has a great many women coaching in all age groups.

VT topics are like zombies, they never die, they just go away for awhile and then come back to eat our brains.

I prefer to coach as a woman, but it freaks out my players so I only do it for really big matches.

However what is interesting is that with the womens game you see men or women coaches, but on the mens side you will never see a mens team coached by a woman. THAT would be interesting. At least at the college level, at least I have never seen it.

For me personally I don't care about the gender of the coach, just that they are a good role model, very technical coach, and they motivate players to give it their best on the court and be good people off.

Becky Fletcher, now head women's coach at Frostburg State, was not only the head coach of both the women's and men's team at SUNYIT, she started the men's program from scratch in 2008.

There are quiet few on DIII man's volleyball side, but most of them would coach both teams, plus do some administrative work, so they can get full time. Earlier mention Allison Stack use to coach Baruch both programs.
