I agree with some of the above reasoning on talent. IMO it's going to be about who beats out who to be on the floor. The good news is the Gators should be a pretty deep team because of the talent and position battles. Yea, they're as deep as anyone. Last players on our bench would start at many good programs. Only thing this years team will have to figure out is, who is the go to player? I think it's Holston, but we will see how she does when not front row w/ Chloe 2/3 rotations.

It is Holston once her and the setter connect better it should be pretty scary. Especially if the could get the offense much faster by the end of the fall even in transition make low balls to the kind abd backrow. If we can pass and get quality digs to do it in transition.

I'm with you and kro2488 the go-to player is Holston. I agree if the Gators can get the passing going they will be tough to beat. That is the part of the game I noticed they struggled when not playing well. It might be a matter of the coaching staff finding a way to make everything "click" in terms of mechanics and talent.

What they need to be significantly better at this year is defense. I believe that is where Rhamat will make an impact.

can I just say how excited and ready I am for the Fall to roll around? I am highly optimistic about the impact that Snyder and Alhassan will have and I am looking forward to a healthy Noami! I like the pieces returning for the Gators and can't wait to see what the newbies are bringing. How was Detering in the spring matches? will she challenge Dagostino for setting duties?

As long as she can get to setting our middles high enough consistently I prefer Dagastino's pace with the offfense. Her only issue is sometimes setting middles or rs a little to low. The upside with deterring would be the n middle connection would be easier because the release point is all ready higher, but Dagastino sees the block very well and is quick on her feet and feisty. In the fall if she connects well I see her starting.

IMO Florida is above average at blocking. The Gators have consistently been able to recruit players who can jump high on the block. I'm not worried about that part of the defense. However, I agree they need to practice serve receive. For them it could be the difference in making it to the next level.

Blocking was a big factor in the L to FSU in round 2. We were O first, D second all season. Dominated when teams couldn't transition and struggled when they could. Our front line of returners is Ziva, Gabby, Alex & Simone. Assuming a 5-1 rotation, I believe Rhamat will be the X factor. As great as Chloe was offensively, blocking wasn't what made her an AA.

Our blockers need to learn to have either the pin blocker or the middle be more risky and drop a hand or two in the seams that develop when we play teams that run super fast offenses like FSU. Realistically the middle can't close on a go set to the outside every time. Gotta take more risks blocking, and our defenders just have to start making big time digs when we really need it. Of course I think our serving will be better this year with getting teams out of system which will help as the season goes along. And I think we have started swing blocking again it looked like it at times in the UCF match. But it only might be with slower paced sets maybe. They were getting a lot of controlled touches when they weren't stuffing balls though. I hope that is a trend that builds we can't have balls being sprayed off the block all night in ncaa matches.

Let's be real, volleyball is 90% serving and passing and every team wants to get better on the pass. Our passing did have break downs last year, probably more than other elite programs. As did our serving. I'd put blocking right behind those two of things UF needs to improve to be a contender.

I want to see Florida improve in every plays and that our players learn to force things to happen in crunch time. Our ncaa loses and top 25 loses happen because we don't make effort plays at key times while the other teams do. We let junk fall. That has to stop to advance.
