Walking Dead (s8) I don't know about you doofs, but I feel this show has been going down steadily since season 3. Now watching season 8 and I think it's crap. It's getting harder and harder to watch. We'll see if Beta can enhance the storyline at all. I liked him as Opie in Sons of Anarchy. Just finished The Widow on Amazon. Only 8 episodes. Story was just okay but I did find the location/setting very interesting. A number of jungle scenes but absolutely no wildlife...how does that happen?

After Life was good. 6 episodes, Netflix. Sweet. Surprisingly so, from Ricky Gervais.

I signed up for a 2 week trial of HBO so I could watch the Michael Jackson horror show 😐. What else should I watch on HBO?

True Detective.
I like Pete Holmes's series, Crashing, but I doubt it's your cup of tea. Barry is OK too.

I cancelled my cable service in the early 2000s. It's been bliss ever since. Didn't like how the TV shows dictated my schedule. Now, we just watch DVDs/Blu-Ray (binge watch TV shows), youtube videos, and some streaming. We watch whatever we want to watch at the time we want to watch them. Also, we have great impulse control so we don't feel the need for immediate gratification. We have enough patience to wait several years before watching something. Shoot, we didn't watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer (all seasons) until a few years ago. Ditto the 1970s The Rockford Files and the 1960s The Man from U.N.C.L.E., both in 2012-2014. We're also always a year behind Game of Thrones because we wait for the DVD release.

Covert Affairs (s1)
Can't believe the wife and I watched the entire first season. It's a stupid show with outrageous plots, but surprisingly entertaining. We laughed the whole time -- and the show is not a comedy! Piper Perabo is not a good actress. I mean, who the frikk is Piper Perabo? Anyway, we'll probably watch season 2. LOL!

Piper Perabo was really good in Game Night. And other things. Pretty good middle blocker for Texas too.
And an OU grad.

You know what is somewhat perplexing to me about TV shows? With only a set time for each episode, every line you give to one cast member means someone else isn't getting his/hers. Take, for example, The Walking Dead. I'm currently watching season 8. It's a huge cast which means that often, some characters won't get screen time or lines for many episodes. Even the main cast members have to make some sort of sacrifice. Rick, Maggie, Daryl, Michonne, and Carol are the main cast members but even they aren't seen for a couple episodes. Michonne, for example, didn't have anything significant to do until episode 5 or 6.
Anyway, what gets me is that despite this screen time limitation on the entire cast, the show keeps introducing new characters that take a significant chunk of time away from the other more established characters. For example, Carl meets this guy Siddiq on the road and sort of becomes his friend. They have long scenes together. I mean, this guy Siddiq is not a regular cast member. He's just some minor minor character who, all of a sudden, has had more screen time than Maggie and Michonne! I'm not necessarily complaining but I wonder what the writers' decision-making process was. Sure, this new character Siddiq was arguably necessary to bring out Carl's character a bit more, but damn, that also means we don't get scenes with other more established characters like Tara, Rosita, and Dwight.
I've always believed that when you keep introducing new characters instead of working with what you've got, you as a writer are being lazy. What was once a tight script all of a sudden starts to unravel. Plus, the actors and actresses who play the more established characters must be getting pissed that their screen time keeps getting shorter and shorter.

Finished Russian Doll. May be one of the best TV shows ever made.
Hyperbole noted.
