I was trying to figure out whether you meant the character was the daughter of characters played by Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, or whether the character was supposed to be actually the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, but I now realize you mean the actress who plays the character is actually the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. and the actor that played Bob the Brain is actually the son of Patty Duke. ...and Bruce, the obnoxious reporter, is Gary Busey's kid.

Sharp Objects
Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson. I didn't like this one at all. It moved so slowly and most of it was about the lead character's attempts to fight her psychological demons, but in a totally uninteresting way. Bleh.

Loch Ness Now watching this murder mystery starring Laura Fraser, the actress who played Lydia Rodarte-Quayle in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. I've grown to like her.

Finished Land Girls, which I kinda liked, especially the last (third) series. Reminded me a little of Home Fires (both are about women during WW-II) but Land Girls had characters and relationships that were more appealing (Home Fires killed off the appealing characters because, I assume, they were too well-behaved).

Bang! A murder mystery set in Wales. The characters speak English and Welsh and they go in and out of both languages quite frequently and smoothly. For those not familiar with Welsh, it sounds so different from English and yet, they share some common words here and there. It looks like the more modern words are common but verbs, pronouns, prepositions, adjectives, and the like are quite different. I've heard Hispanic families talk in both Spanish and English, switching from one to the other and back, sometimes every other sentence. It's quite interesting to hear. I wish I belonged to a multilingual household.

Euphoria on HBO.
This show is intense and really dark, but excellent! It kind of reminds me of the movie Spring Breakers from a few years ago. The teens in this show are really a mess and a lot of them are just rotten human beings. They make the 13 Reasons Why kids look like choirboys. The adults are a bunch of out-to-lunch space cadets, or are just as rotten as the teens. One complaint...there is too much male nudity, most of which completely unnecessary.

Yes there is. Probably 75% male to maybe 25% female. I have never seen that in a show or movie. Quite the sausage fest in a show with so many beautiful women.

Happy Valley (s2)
Season 1 of this series is one of the beat shows I’ve seen in the past few years. It’s atypical of British murder mysteries in that it’s a lot like Fargo and not much in the way of detailed investigation. However, it’s incredible storytelling with a lot of pressure points. I generally have a soft spot for stories involving some incompetence/ineptitude or some sort of plan that goes all wrong and the people involved are desperately scrambling and, in their haste, they make lots of mistakes. Also, one aspect of the first season that was gripping was that a crime was committed and the police are unaware of it until the final couple episodes. There are so many elements to this series that just makes this so engaging.

Wolf Hall
Now watching. I went into this TV miniseries blind, except that I knew it was based on the book that won the Man Booker Award. Turns out, it's about Henry VIII and his attempt to dissolve his marriage with Catherine of Aragon so that he can marry Anne Boleyn, told through the eyes of attorney Thomas Cromwell. I told myself, what's with the Brits' fascination with Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn? And with Thomas Cromwell and Thomas More? Of course, there's the whole Reformation thing. I guess the Brits may be wondering what the hell is America's fascination with Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War? I mean, it's just one little war. The Brits themselves have had many wars -- both civil and foreign. But the Reformation, Henry VIII, and Anne Boleyn -- that's epic!

Really makes you more sympathetic to Cromwell, who comes off as the villain in A Man For All Seasons.

Anne Boleyn is an interesting story. Not only is her marriage to Henry the reason that the Church of England even exists, it has this whole storyline of "innocent, lovely girl is made queen and then unjustly killed by swirling political forces and a legendarily impatient and capricious king".

Quite the sausage fest in a show with so many beautiful women. considering how many shows have a disproportionally high ratio of female nudity, perhaps this one is intentionally trying to reverse that. who knows.
