Better Call Saul (season 4)
I like this show, especially how it starts off every episode kind of mysteriously. You don't know what they're doing or why they're doing it. But it gets revealed later. Sometimes, it's not that important. Other times, it's central to the story. But I kind of like that approach to filmmaking.
Anyway, my wife hasn't seen Breaking Bad so every time I say things like "Oh, I know those twins. They were in Breaking Bad." She rolls her eyes. I'm trying to convince her to watch Breaking Bad.

House of Cards (s6, the final season)
Claire is so busy strategizing how to get rid of her political enemies, how does she find the time to run the country? Also, am I the only one who liked her middle finger to folks who may say killing off Frances Underwood (due to Kevin Spacey's legal issues) was too "convenient"?

Yes there is. Probably 75% male to maybe 25% female. I have never seen that in a show or movie. Quite the sausage fest in a show with so many beautiful women. considering how many shows have a disproportionally high ratio of female nudity, perhaps this one is intentionally trying to reverse that. who knows. Cable and online shows yes, but network tv...nowhere as much.

I don't recall there being much nudity at all on network tv. but then I suppose it depends on one's definition of "nudity". for instance, using the general american standards, shirtless female = nudity. shirtless male = not nudity

But speaking of female nudity on cable and online shows, I agree, I think some of it is excessive and not strictly necessary from a storytelling point of view. I felt the nudity in the last few seasons of Game of Thrones was really not necessary and seem almost to detract from the storytelling for example. Like I joked earlier, the producers seem to fear people are not going to watch their show if the female actresses don't flash their boobs every 5 minutes or so.

It's not that they want to protect our tender sensibilities. It's that the FCC will fine them.

It's not that they want to protect our tender sensibilities. It's that the FCC will fine them. Please don't put words in my mouth, I never said anything about tender sensibilities. It is because they are geared to a broad audience that the FCC feels the need to exercise a larger control over the networks.

Just watched an episode of ESPN's SC Featured titled "Who Says I Can't." It's the story of a HS football coach with no arms or legs. It's an incredible story and the man, Robert Mendez, received the Jimmy V award at this year's ESPY's. It's 30 minutes long. I found an abbreviated version of it on YouTube. ESPN also ran the story on their website (for those who are unable to watch the video) www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/25983010/who-says-rob-mendez-head-football-coach

I started watching Mad Men. Hopefully 2nd hand smoke can’t filter through my TV.

Just finished the two seasons of Absentia on Prime. A large part of it was set in Boston but did not look familiar to me. I looked it up later and found out it was filmed in Bulgaria. Pretty predictable.
Now into episode 2 (out of 6) of The Spy on Netflix. Kind of weird, at first, to see Sacha Baron Cohen in a serious role. A little slow but not a bad series.

Just started watching Schitt's Creek on Netflix. It's a pretty funny show to binge in between all the hour long dramas/thrillers. Also started watching this. So far, so good. A raunchier Northern Exposure. The characters are actually deeper than you'd think from first impression. More human.

Poldark -- finished first two seasons. Prime time soap opera crap, but relatively entertaining.
Star Trek Discovery -- set 10 years before Star Trek: The Original Series. The entire first season is about the Federation's war with the Klingons.

Is this a new Poldark or the one from 40 years ago?

Is this a new Poldark or the one from 40 years ago? The more recent one.
