The claim that refs "favors" a team over another necessarily assumes that they are intentionally doing so, and I just don't believe refs have such a personal bias.

What about #servegate (BYU V UCLA 2 years ago)? If there ever was a blatant bias, it was the last point of that first match...

The claim that refs "favors" a team over another necessarily assumes that they are intentionally doing so, and I just don't believe refs have such a personal bias. The ref made HORRIBLE calls against hawaii in crucial points in their game. I've never called out favoritism of the refs before that.

My point is not that refs don't blow calls. We all know they do, just like NBA refs, and baseball umpires, etc. They're human, and they will make mistakes. But I don't think that any volleyball refs intentionally favor one team over another.

Usually I would agree, but it was quite fishy that the blown calls were always when hawaii had monentum, or in crucial point situtations. That's all I was saying. I'm not blaming the refs for hawaii or lbsu loss, just stating what I've noticed
