gopherfan The test that I mentioned was for the confidence Mr. Powers had in his ID of my comments. I assumed that had he said this directly to Aaron Shepardson, he would not be bringing it up here. He wouldn't know me from Adams off-ox. I identified my sources of information weeks ago. I do not claim anything beyond hearsay, and some of that relates to the character of the individuals involved in the discussion. My opinions should not be taken as anything but comments about how changes can be made, and how words can have unintended results. When I read your posts, this is kind of what goes through my head: The dramatic gentleman swings throughout a viewer. Does a mother shame the surprise? The crown chalks across the apathy. The cruise leaps a diet campus. The vehicle chalks on top of the vehicle. Each monthly recruit hurts. How can the continent load overflow on top of our grief? The high sweat suspects near a day. Why can't the directory overflow with the ambient brush? The arcade objects outside a village. How does the agenda exclude the hazy doom? How can the preface part a victim? An egg overflows each learned initiative inside the result. The exploited smell breezes across the unusable recruit. The literature zooms inside a legend! The insidious oil cracks the borderline after the dull village. The duff venture listens opposite a requisite sod. Within the monopoly solos a tunnel. The winter coughs.

Gopherfan is this some of that new fangled postmodernism, pre crime, dystopic Ayn Randeverse that seems to be all the rage?

For someone who is trying to sell you have no dog in this fight, you are doing a lot of research to defend the coaching staff. If you are not Aaron, I am pretty sure you fall in the category of a coach's MFSB. For those who never watched Soul Train that is Mother/Father/Sister/Brother. Wait, there are people who never watched Soul Train? How can this be.....?

I think that is just a quotation from Joyce's Finnegan's Wake, albeit translated into English...

Now what does SJSU do? A) Fire the coaches B) Fire the athletics staff C) Plan behind the current team's back and wait until April to not renew scholarships D) Call a coaches meeting with the AD, sit in a circle, and blame the person sitting across from you E) Open a catering business with Longintooth
SJSU Women's Volleyball and their players deserve better.

I don't know anything about this situation or the coaches but I suspect that one of them is related to John Calipari.

I actually went to a different program with a new coach that tried to "create their own team" and got rid of most of our girls, but I also ended up transferring to a new program where this exact pair of coaches had just recently left as assistants. I don't know if I'd pick A just yet because the damage is done so far, but I wouldn't wait too long before looking at it as an option. To be honest, the horror stories I've heard about this pair of coaches were so shocking and always confused me as to how they could be hired anywhere else. From hours of "volleyball homework" to micromanaging what the girls were eating or when they were eating (like not letting them eat after a loss) these weren't your run-of-the-mill tough coach stories, these were insane people. Compared to what I've heard and found out from following their career, I'm not even shocked they came in and did this at SJSU. Sure, you can't take old stories from teammates and say that's probable cause for firing someone, so just look at what they did here at SJSU and everything detailed in this thread. Any coach that's willing to get rid of an entire team in favor of their "own" recruits is a bad sign and not someone you'd ever want to play for as a player. As an incoming player, you want to have a coach that's going to be able to take whatever type of player you are and make you into a better player and person for that team and program. Wins and loses don't matter after you graduate, but the team, school, and family you were apart of do matter and these coaches ripped that world away from those girls with no warning. You can call volleyball a business all you want, but the way they handled the entire situation was horrible and no girl is going to want to play for them in the future if they research their background. The school and AD should've seen the first red flag if/when they found out that they did this exact same thing at Bakersfield, the second red flag should have been when they signed releases for an entire team, the third can be the losing season, and the fourth can be whatever they manage to do next....

They ended the season with only 7 players, anyone know what happened to the rest of the girls?

Loudtallblond - The AD was all in on the strategy with non-renewal of scholarships at SJSU. The President of the University wanted the previous staff to increase the diversity of the team and go outside of California, so what better story to buy into than International players, transfer players, and a whole new melting pot of a team. The SJSU President, AD and his staff are as much to blame as anyone for this mess. I still chuckle that when I asked the SJSU NCAA Compliance Administrator who I talk to when I feel I have an NCAA complaint, she said "I don't know", and wouldn't answer me. What a stupid answer. Parents and athletes need to research the situations they about to get into and not let the glow of a D1 scholarship cloud their decisions. Be aware.
Miggy16 - Good question on the remaining roster. If more girls quit and are not returning for the spring semester, added to the girls they ran off from last year, the APR is about to implode and the resulting restrictions. Do scholarship numbers get reduced? I know that practice time, face time with coaches, and study hall hours change, but what other restrictions does the NCAA impose? When does the APR get published for the 2014 season? It will also be interesting to see what type of sand roster they pull together for the spring. Hope they like Subway, "longintooth" has a discount card.

Good evening all. Got a call from a friend in California and he said that the SJSU coaches are recruiting pretty hard. Saw a post above that said they ended season with 7 but stats look like they might have had 8, but whatever. Was wondering what is really going on if anyone knows. Looks like the following 6 left throughout the season: Hana Tresnáková OH,5-10,FR,Prague,Czech Republic; Kiely Pieper- L,5-10, SR,Los Gatos, Calif. (Los Gatos HS); McKenzie Palassou- L, 5-6, SO, Salinas, Calif. (Monterey Peninsula College); Jessica Oneto, OH, 6-0, FR, Stockton, Calif. (Lincoln HS) Summer Avery- OH, 5-11, FR, Tucson, Ariz. (Tucson HS); Kalie Matthews- MB, 6-0, JR, Glendale, Ariz. (Weber State.
Also very interested to see if anyone can answer the question above that Miggy16 and gotball were talking about which had to do with possible sanctions or reduced time with coaches...that would certainly be something recruits should know about. Thanks as always, Grandpa

Thanks as always, Grandpa I would never let my kid play for those 2 coaches unless it was the only scholarship she was offered. Lost complete respect for them when they cleared the previous team out. Sorry I don't have the answer to your question.

Their highest percentage hitter hit .168, and she was a MB. I'm sorry, but thats absolutely ridiculous. I know Highschool teams that that can do better than that. These coaches either need to do some serious thinking about what they did and correct the mistake, or they need to be fired.
