Too bad they didn't Include maglio SmokeDog just listed the headliner for Hawaii #12 recruiting class, where Maglio's name was not listed. Emily Maglio is mentioned as a 6'2 mb from Canada in the comment column, evaluating each recruiting class.

It looks like the incoming 2014 freshman Anteater class consists of:
Setter: Emily Blair (T-Street)
Libero: Chloe Hakim (NCVC)
Middle: Tawnee Luafalemana (Mizuno Long Beach)
Middle: Aspen Potter (T-Street) Outside: Jacqueline (Juju) Cannon (T-Street)
So, with the changes listed above (and crosschecked with Rich Kern), Irvine should have the following roster for 2014:
Libero/Defensive Specialists: Molly Yoder (Sr), Hannah Nabbout (Sr), Arden Davis (So), Chloe Hakim (Fr)
Setters: Shelley Anderson (So), Emily Blair (Fr)
Opposites: Sydney Wright (Jr), Lena Latour (So)
Middles: Arielle Manz (Sr), Ella Rosenfeld (Jr), Dani Geiger (So), Tawnee Luafalemana (Fr), Aspen Potter (Fr)
Outside Hitters: Marissa Bubica (Jr), Victoria Dennis (Jr), Allison Lee (Sr), Cassidy Pickrell (So), Jacqueline (Juju) Cannon (Fr)
with Head Coach Paula Weishoff, assistant coach Aaron Flores and assistant coach Tyler Hagstrom. No volunteer assistant coach announced that I am aware of.
Incoming 2015 players include libero Samantha Frost and outside hitter Kylie Green
This looks like good depth at every position and plenty of talent to do well in the Big West for several years to come. Some of these 2014 freshmen should be able to compete for playing time this fall. Last year proved that Weishoff is willing to play freshmen who can get the job done. Note that the positions listed are guesses based on previous year's positions. They may play other roles on the 2014 Anteater squad.

Anyone else feel like stepping up with their team's expected 2014 roster? Let's see if we can get all nine. (It's still nine, isn't it?)

Too bad they didn't Include maglio as i understand it, prepvolleyball only includes u.s. players/recruits on its list, and not foreign (although there's been the rare exception, i believe, like sarah pavan).

I believe you're right. I recall him saying he used to include foreign recruits but stopped after sarah pavan. I could be wrong.

Solid Freshman class heading to Northridge!
1. Lauren Conati - 6'1" setter from Scottsdale Arizona. 2. Nada Dragovic - 6'2" outside hitter out of Montebello Ca. 3. Brianna Johnson - 5'11" Middle Blocker / outside hitter from Irvine 4. Katie Sato - Libero /DS out of Agoura Hills. Father Gary coached US and Olympic teams.
Two others not mentioned for a total of 6. This class adds depth to a already talented squad that should compete for conference championship again this year.

I think UCI and Cal Poly will surprise many. UCI returns virtually all their starters from 2013 and adds 3 red shirts that will immediately impact the depth of the program. I think a lot you forget that UCI freshman were nominated several times for Big West player of the week and arguably should have won on at least one occasion, 25 and 17 kills respectively, while hitting close to .500. Anderson, is a very good setter, will have anther year under her belt, and Bubica ,Lee, and Pickrell, had A very strong spring campaign beating UCLA at the UCI tourney. I don't want to damper your enthusiasm but I want to point some things out. 1. If a player can make an impact the coach won't redshirt her but will play her cuz she'll help and make the team better. Anderson and Pickrell are examples of this for UCI. Now on the other hand if a healthy player redshirts that tells me the player is more kind of a project or a work in progress with holes in her game. That doesn't mean the player can't become good one day. Arielle Manz is a great example. Today I consider Manz a good middle. But when she 1st came to UCI she was tall but a work in progress. Redshirting helped UCI develop Manz into a contributor. My point is I wouldn't count on redshirt players to make an impact of any kind until they actually produce the results first. 2. UCI's Anderson and Pickrell were named to the Big West All freshmen team. So they were both properly acknowledged for their good freshmen season. I think making an all conference team trumps any Player of the Week honors. So when pointing to UCI's bright future you don't need to bring up any POW nominations, that nobody really remembers , just remind people of UCI's all conference selections. 3. I follow the UCI team closely but didn't remember any UCI player getting snubbed for Player of the Week. I went back and quickly looked. Pickrell got her 17 kills against UC Davis. That week the POW deservedly went to CSUN's Hinger for helping the matadors road sweep UCI and Long Beach State. Pickrell got her 25 kills on a road win over Fullerton. However that week the POW went to UCSB's Ali Spindt for helping them knock off 1st place CSUN on a road sweep of CSUN & Davis. Spindt had 32 kills and 27 digs that weekend. Although Pickrell had one great individual match I think the Player for the WEEK correctly went to Spindt. 4. When a coach wins in the Spring that W doesn't become part of their college record. When a player piles up huge stats in the Spring those numbers are not included in her career stats. Spring results are encouraging BUT at the end of the day let's remember Spring wins, stats and play don't account for anything more than practice.

She's always struck me as a class act, so I'm guessing that this untimely departure was not a casual decision on her part. I wish her the best, and hope that the Aggies manage the transition well. Would they consider Webb for the job or will they look for more experience?

UC Davis is a great school and could attract a highly qualified coach. IMO this is an opportunity to build a powerhouse program. Best wishes to Jamie Holmes - do we know where she'll land?

when i posted I think UCI will surprise some people I backed it up with a simple summary of facts. I am not looking a lesson from you about what I should or should not include as it was just a general impression of the team and its past successes and progress. I get that it is spring ball but since the only play to analyze when pointing to next year is spring ball that is what I used. As for the reasons a player is redshirted, it is also used for Medical reasons..ie Sydney Wright who previously proved her worth when healthy. I also commented that it will add to the overall depth, depth of the club and all three redshirts will. Depth at position is yet another reason to redshirt.
Also, I fully understand why POW's were chosen and agree with the logic. One player helps a team for a big conference win and the other had a good week with little impact on the overall conference standings ie. pushing for a conference title. I did not intend to say that one was snubbed nor do I believe any of the nominated were, but instead was attempting to show that UCI's cupboard too has many impact players that will hopefully only improve in the season(s) to come.
I know you are passionate about UCI Vball, as am I, and appreciate your inputs, which far outweigh my contributions to the site, and hope you understand that I am trying to give a positive outlook to next year and also keep the thread going; as I really do enjoy reading others opinions about their teams and players.

Has UC Davis found a coach? We're only 3 months away from the start of the 2014 season.
