USA wins 5, 21, 18 over Mexico. Totally dominated the first set, then Mexico's passing improved and their team became competitive. Both the last two sets were close until USA pulled away at the end. USA issues were passing; able to run their offense and a high percentage of points. MB very impressive; should be able to score v. anyone in this tourney if passing is there. It was the first set and results were not pretty for mexico. Haggerty and Smith, I believe, were OH and both are smart hitters with good ideas. Smith is going to be a good one, for Purdue, I think. Hodson was at Opposite. Feed is blurry and names indecipherable, perhaps I will print out the numbers for next match. Which will be against Dominican republic, I bet. Cuba and USA get byes to the semis, while Mexico plays a weak team, as does Dominican, I think. Don't think they will have USA play Mexico twice so probably dominican Republic. Schwan and Smith started as OH in sets 1 and 3. Haggerty started in set 2 with Smith as OH

Too bad the US can't recruit some of these incredibly athletic Cuban hitters!

More detailed stats sheets for all matches can be found here:

Today's matches haven't been posted yet, but everything through the quarters is currently available.
The P-2 forms are one-page stat summaries -- basically just sets played and team leaders -- but the P-3 forms have complete stats. (Both are in PDF format.)

This a loaded US team. You don't usually see Fitzmorris (World U-18 Championships' Best Blocker - correct me if Im wrong) and Haggerty on the bench.
Alhassan is gonna be a good one. Nice get by Florida.
Hodson and Smith are both 2015. They're going to be top 3 recruits. Hodson has a powerful arm, bodes well that she can play either as OH/Opp as by the time she gets to Stanford, the Cardinals will have probably the best OH combo in the nation in Burgess and Howard. Smith is fun to watch. Nice arm swing.
Other than the libero, Schwann seems like the most consistent passer of the 3 on the court (plus Hodson, Smith).

The Poulter Alhassan connection is near lower level International already. Poulter gets up and sets quick and in a straight line and Alhassen gets over it and slams straight down. Very impressive.
