I am certainly not surprised.....PSU has C L E A R L Y demonstrated that they will do anything and sacrifice anything to win. Even the safety of children.
I called The NCAA President three times to get the PSU death penalty.

One might assume that coaches who encourage a walk-on to transfer somewhere might be doing it because it is a growth opportunity for that player. After all, if they just didn't want the player on the team they could simply tell her that. 19 or 20 players on a team is nuts. I have always thought those 8 players at the end of the PSU bench dancing around are kind of sad in a way They rarely look sad.

I remember Wichita State having 20-25 on the roster every year. It's competition. It is also Title IX compliance.

Would that mean that some schools continue to be in non-compliance with Title IX? Just saying.

Would that mean that some schools continue to be in non-compliance with Title IX? Just saying. I am pretty sure there are quiet few, specifically with football programs. As for PSU uniqueness, they are unique in teams of coaches longevity. This is exactly why hey have tons of walk-ons. Everybody knows what they will get for next four years at the college! Stability and traditions, not a revolving door of coaches. It's hard to create traditions and win if team will have 2-3 different coaches during your 4 years at college. Look how many generations went through PSU system with exactly the same coaches!

Look how many generations went through PSU system with exactly the same coaches! Couple things need to be modified here. If you are talking about Coach Rose then you are somewhat correct, and I say somewhat, as there are ZERO guarantees that he will be there next year, 2 or 6 years from now. This was the same view as 3 years ago. And NO I don't have any insider knowledge on this either way for the future. As far as coaches (plural) you are a little off as there has been as much or more turn over in assistants and support staff as I would say any program in the country over the past 6 years. That being said , the quality and passion these coaches all brought and bring to the program, university and the development of the girls is very consistent and filled with energy and laser focus. Assistants are crucial to the success of a program and we have been extremely fortunate. The stability does come from the man in the corner room of Rec but it also comes from the mantra of being held accountable in the classroom , the weight room and practice floor EVERY day. These last points are heavily enforced by the girls themselves and that is what is part of what being a good teammate is. If you aren't ALL in......then step aside.

Very well said. In defense of some schools - they may be in compliance by offering fewer sports for male students though that is just a hunch. Penn State has been most fortunate to have Russ Rose and Salima; I hope they both continue on at PSU.

Never was questioning input and importance of assistants and other staff, but it's still HC, who creates culture and traditions! From what I know, Russ is not planning to retire any time soon . Yes, AC will move a whole lot more then HC, just because there are two times more AC positions. As far as guarantees, nobody can guarantee anything in our life.

Would that mean that some schools continue to be in non-compliance with Title IX? Just saying. Determining compliance with Title IX is not a simple yes/no situation. I would say that every big football-playing school has concerns about their Title IX compliance.

I would say that every big football-playing school has concerns about their Title IX compliance. If by "big football-playing school" you mean every FBS school that offers the full complement of 85 scholarships (plus the allowed total of non-scholarship players -- I think that's another 20), then yes, Title IX compliance is a concern for every one of those schools. Probably slightly less so for the FCS schools (limit of 63 scholarships, I believe) -- but still a concern, as 63/?? is still a lot of scholarships to balance out with women's program participation.

I'm sure Salima Rockwell has been promised the HC job after Russ Rose, and I would assume she would stay a long time.

"Assume and Promised", in the same sentence with Coach Rose?

Nebraska football was famous for the number of walk ons they had on the team. They had every school boy in the Midwest dying to get a shot to wear that red jersey. ...and then they hired Bill Callahan. What ever happened to Bill Callahan?
