I don’t see anyone saying about Sheffield all the crap they say about John Cook for recruiting young players. They treat Cook as if he committed a crime. For those that don’t know, Sheffield took a commitment from an 8th grader. He also took in a big10 transfer that people are saying could/would/should play right away instead of sitting out a year for in conference transfer rules... The hypocrisy is incredibly omitted. Haters gonna hate

Aren’t they supposed to lose a year of eligibility too for transferring to a team within the conference?

A different ranking of the incoming players and it’s free, unlike another site! volleyballmag.com/girls-fab-50-042319/Here’s their top 5 rankings. Top 5 Players in this Class (Rank 1-5)
1. Skylar Fields 2. Kendall Kipp 3. Caitie Baird 4. Madi Kubik 5. Selina Xu Younger players mentioned near the end of the article. I bet Kubik is better than Baird. The other publication has Baird and Kipp flip flopped ahead of Kubik. Hard to believe Kipp is rated behind Baird with the way the Stanford fans are slobbering all over about her.

RE: Verballing 8th graders, hypocrisy, etc.: I'm just gonna quote myself here, from the similar discussion in the Wisconsin thread. Suffice it to say that I don't like it when Cook does it, and I don't like that Sheff has done it. I have stated that Sheffield has said he doesn't want to offer middle schoolers. At the time he hadn't done so. Now he has. He may not like it, but he's done it. And I don't like it. I'm sure this 2023 DS is great, and I trust Sheff to make the best decisions for the program, but I wish the world were such that he didn't feel compelled to offer 8th graders. While I think the new proposed recruiting rules swing a bit too far in limiting ALL contact prior to junior year, I acknowledge that setting such draconian regulations is the only way to get this early recruiting craziness to stop. Otherwise it's just a race to the bottom. As for the Barnes transfer, she visited Nebraska ( source). If she'd've chosen the Huskers, I doubt you'd be criticizing the pursuit of a waiver for immediate eligibility. Per Sheffield, it's routine to appeal for every inter-conference transfer, and with Clark, they were just hoping for a waiver on the loss of eligibiltiy aspect ( source). And with regard to Barnes, it'd probably help the Badgers MORE if she sat in 2019 and played 2020 and 2021. For the record, my opinion on the B1G inter-conference transfer rule is that the "sit a year" part is reasonable, but the "lose a year" part is excessively punitive. I also think the process should be more transparent and uniformly applied. If I ran the zoo...

Dang so it was between us and Wisconsin. I think it would be better if she sit out this year so Clark can be the starting L for her senior year and she can be the L for the next two years.

We don’t need her do we? No. Nebraska never offered her. This was the walk-on DS that I mentioned earlier who visited during beach season, but she was never offered a scholarship They would have taken her only as a walk-on. Unfortunately, 3 scholarship liberos would be tough to swing.

Watching multiple club matches from this year, I’d say kipp is better than fields imo. Not because I want her to be better, but because I truly think she is. She is more physicals at 6’5, more versatile, just as mobile hits a much better back row ball. Everyone can look for themselves for their own opinions I’m just stating that im not sure why every site has fields at no. 1 when kipp in club matches looks better imo. I think Kubik is better than Baird as well. Right now Baird still struggles with consistency but she is still a top 5 player don’t get me wrong. She hasn’t been performing as well as some of the other top recruits in club this year from what I’ve seen and doesn’t seem to make the same incredibly huge difference kipp and fields do for their teams. Baird has loads of poetential and luckily for her, th eoractice gym is pretty stacked for the 2019 season. I’d put Baird at 5, xu at 4, kubik at 3, fields at 2, kipp at 1.

So back to this thread, any new news on recruits? Anyone in particular that we're going for?
Sami Francis? At this point I think she's Stanford bound but I would love to be wrong.

I kind of agree with you about Sami Francis being Stanford bound. I believe, read on here, she could be attending Nebraska summer camp(s) and after those volleyball sessions announcing her decision. Who knows? The young lady could decide tomorrow. If it’s Nebraska, it will come out publicly before December. If its Stanford the announcement will have to wait till her seventh semester high school grades are finished. That is the usual pattern for Stanford women volleyball players. Maybe after her sixth semester. The smart and safe money is the Cardinal, the home state school.

She could easily be the top recruit. More than impressed by her. I'd also include Texas' molly Phillips as a top 3 recruit. Another phenom. Kubik and Bairds offense not as crisp and terminal as kipp or fields.

I’m unsure about her future as a left side, mainly because she’s weak in the receive department. Additionally, I think she tries a little too hard to get that straight down kill. It’ll be interesting if Phillips can earn the RS position over Fields

I thought Phillips was a locked Top 10 or even 5. My top 5 would have been Baird, Fields, Kipp, Kubik, and Phillips (that was just alphabetically)
