Official rulings on conferences/AQ's and some re-allignment:
Midwest Volleyball Conference ("CVC-West teams") will be considered for an AQ to the Division III men’s volleyball
national championship for the spring of 2017. (Have to submit a waiver, all signs point to them getting one).
The eastern portion will stay as the CVC and will be comprised of the following current
CVC east members: Eastern Mennonite University, Cairn University, Juniata College,
Thiel College, Stevenson University and Marymount University. These schools voted
unanimously to add Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Newark, as the league’s
seventh member, effective for the 2014-15 season. (Retain their AQ)
St. Joseph’s College (Brooklyn) is expected to join the Skyline Conference beginning
2014-15 / Polytechnic Institute of New York University has merged with New York University, no longer in Skyline.
The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) will have an AQ for the 2016
championship.
So that will be 8 (CUNY, CVC, GNAC, MWVC, NEAC, NECC, SKYLINE, UVC) in 2017 if all goes according to plan. Regardless, still 7 in 2016.
Also, why or how would the MWVC get a waiver? What makes them so special that they won't have to wait?
The MWVC will be in place this season (2015) and next season (2016) without receiving an AQ- hence waiting. They aren't "special"- same rules for everyone else.
