I've always been a fan of Michigan and I hope to see them have a great season.

firedup,
We don't want any part of that team ... May your team be absent from our sub-regional and regional and if in the unlikely event we do meet in the FF let it be the Championship Match!

I look for Michigan to surprise people this year - similar to how they disappointed last year. Great setter, good size and ability in the middle, solid passing/defense, and potential on the outside hitting position. Could be a crazy year in the Big Ten.

There is a significant amount of talent there, coupled with an influx of new blood, and the future is more than bright. John should be just fine. Not sure why Mark and Co. seem to have Stanford's number in the tournament, but we'll see what the future holds. Enjoy the year and best of luck to the Cardinal.

I"m crossing my fingers we will be ok. BTW, if you have a 4-leaf clover, send it to me here in beautiful Palo Alto.

Is there a nicer D1 coach than Mark? If there is, please pass along his name.
And BTW Mark's 500+ wins ain't too shabby either!

Thanks for posting this PSUmaui.
In terms of the expectations of Michigan this year, while I think that an earlier poster did highlight several of the positives that Michigan can benefit from (strong setting, defense and middle play) what do VT posters think about the outside opportunities for the Maize and Blue? The highlight of the first day of practice shows Adeja Lambert who seems to be a very physically strong incoming freshman. Could someone who has seen her play in club and high school assess her strengths and make a comparison to other incoming freshmen at other schools?

Last weekend's sweep of Nebraska was huge. Had Michigan lost they would've been two matches under .500. As a B1G team, and with their schedule, a winning record may be all they need to get a tournament bid.
Rutgers and Maryland this weekend may help give them a cushion, unfortunately for them it will be the only time this season facing them.

Yes, after Rutgers/Maryland it's pretty brutal; the only "free ride" is Indiana, who beat Michigan already!. I don't think they'll make it to .500, but if they do there will be enough quality wins to qualify.
