I can see no reason for Olivia to transfer; she is on the sideline because of a minor injury! GO HUSKERS I don't believe injury is all that has kept her on the sideline. But I could very well be wrong about her transferring. Time will tell. Well she isn't having any trouble in practice; and John spoke pretty highly about her! So I don't see where you are coming from! I guess time will tell! I guess I was surprized when Sheridan Zarda left though! GO HUSKERS

I have never been impressed with Olivia, i hope she does free up a scholarship.
I know that sounds harsh, but as you can see this season, DEPTH and quality competition for positions is a must for the program. I've seen Olivia one too many times, and she hits a good hard ball, but Division 1 is beyond that.
Too slow for me, i am looking for All-Americans!

GO HUSKERS While I understand the local posters that watched Olivia through HS ..., I don't think she really had to push herself that much to succeed. I see a lot of potential there, but it's up to her. Will she get 'hungry' enough to elevate her play to her utmost potential? I think we'll find out in a years time.

I would be interested in seeing how Boender benefits from a year in the Husker Power conditioning program. Cook likes her all-around skill, but I think she could develop more athletically.

I hate to see anyone disregarding potential players; The girls chose Nebraska because they love the Huskers! To write them off before they even have a chance seems awful cruel to me! Look how much bad mouth Fien got, and she is improving all the time! Maybe I'm a softy, but I would train them, and see how what develops first!

PS and Nebraska chose them because they have potential!

Correct on all accounts. And the basis I have for thinking she'll transfer is that I believe the answer to your question is no. It is also my contention that she isn't going to be happy unless she's playing significant minutes and I just don't think that's going to happen.

GO HUSKERS PS and Nebraska chose them because they have potential! First of all, Kelsey came to Nebraska with quite a bit more "potential" than did Olivia. Secondly, while Kelsey has had a few good performances as of late, it remains to be seen if she can be consistently productive against Big Ten caliber teams. Lastly... Different players have different ideas of work ethic and also different ideas of what role they'll accept on a team. Kelsey and Olivia don't have a lot in common regarding my last two points.

I don't have any knowledge about Olivia except for watching her perform at the All-Star game. I was surprised at how well she passed the ball and moved. She appears to need some conditioning but she also hammered the ball with consistency. She was much better than I thought she was going to be after reading many of the comments on here. Time and how much heart she has will decide her future at Nebraska.

Maybe you want to wait more than 3 weeks into a freshman's college career before writing them off either physically or with regard to attitude? Players can come in with a set of assumptions that quickly can change based on coaching or a team culture.
A 21-year-old player may be very different than the player (and person) she was at 18.

Well I like all the Huskers and I believe sometimes we pass judgement too quickly! Hopefully Maddie will be back before too long also!

Haven't "written anyone off", however I have a lot more to go on than the last three weeks when sharing my hunch. I'll say this and it will be my last comment on the subject. I hope I'm proven wrong. I hope she turns out to be an important and happy part of the a Husker team. That would be terrific.

Re-watching a match from 2011 and can't help but wonder what the 2014 team would look like with Cook setting them. Her sets to the right side and middle is at an entire different level than Pollmiller. Does Cook have any other daughters?

Well, I know there is lots of pressure on these twins to perform this season, and i think they've done pretty decently so far. But let us not forget, their distinguished acting careers, they have put on hold to pursue there volleyball interests. They gave up lots for the huskers!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was a discussion in the Minnesota VS. Nebraska thread about their passing so I wanted to reopen this thread. It seems everyone's all doom and gloom about Nebraska this year but you can't help but be excited about the future for this team. With the addition of Foecke to the front row and Kenzie Maloney in the back court, Nebraska will be awfully tough. The only real change will be Hunter at setter, and from the sounds of it that should be an upgrade as well. Have faith Huskers, greener pastures are ahead!
