I find it odd that they already concluded the FH is unplayable. Also interesting that the floor is ok for a Badger practice but not a scrimmage. Are they going to do anything worth watching at this practice? It was coincidental that I am in Madison this weekend to be able to watch a good scrim. Just disappointed. Very disappointing that the staff is concerned with player safety. How irresponsible of them.

Active stretch to "Beat It." Romana is wearing a thigh-high compression stocking on her surgery leg. Morey has her left wrist taped and ring+pinky fingers taped together.

Very disappointing that the staff is concerned with player safety. How irresponsible of them. What did I write that requested you become rude. Simple question - what do you do in a productive practice that you would be concerned about in a scrimmage? No defense? No hitting? No blocking? Why the pissy response? Per Sheff: the floor is wood and on springs and on crazy humid days like today, the moisture comes up through it and they cannot keep it dry. This practice will feature mostly ball control work and less jumping and attacking. Why a practice v. scrimmage? Per Sheff: "When you let competitors like these loose, you never know what's going to happen. During a practice, we can control things more." They are mopping the floor like crazy.

I hope Morey is ok. There is really no backup.

Sheffield indicated Wednesday that Bates had the potential to be a six rotation player, but he also indicated she stilll had a lot of adjustments to make. So sje is not yet a heck of a backup. Maybe by midseason.

It was really hard to gather much from today's practice with very little hitting. The serve receive was inconsistent, but the good side was that some pretty nasty serves were being sent at it, especially from Nelson, with a hard jump float, and Kriskova, with a hard topspin jump serve. Chapman, Thomas, Bates, Morales, Morey, Kriskova, and Kvas at times were in the primary passing group. Kriskova seems to be on the road to recovery, which is a good thing. From what little I saw, Bates seems to be a pretty dynamic hitter who jumps well. I hope that Morey is okay, as passing is probably the biggest question at this point. Thomas said she was a right side in introductions, so I would guess that is where she is going to be. All in all, it wasn't very interesting from the fan perspective, but they achieved their goal of having no one get hurt. It does really stink that they have this problem with a new floor, though. I hope they can find a solution if they have a tournament in similar weather down the road.

Maybe by midseason. For libero? Yeah she is. I would think that his "adjustments" comments would be referring more to her attacking and blocking than her passing and defending.

Today was the first time I'd seen Bates play. There is a lot of raw talent and athleticism there. She's got hops, a heavy arm, and a serve that seemed to be frustrating the passers during drills. However, she's inconsistent. Her passing didn't impress me as much during drills today. Now, that's just one 90-minute practice. I'm sure she'll improve quickly. I look forward to watching her develop. One thing Sheffield said at the meet & greet is that he values consistency above all, which suggests to me that her involvement will start small and grow as the season progresses and she gets her sea legs.
I'm pretty sure Morey is not severely injured. She practiced today. She just didn't serve. I'm sure she'll be well by Friday.
After today's practice, I have no idea what the starting lineup against Louisville will be. Ellen will hit. LC will set. Taylor will be libero. I'm pretty sure Haleigh and Dom will start at middle. That's about all I know. Furthermore, I'd wager that Sheffield doesn't have a clear picture, either.

God forbid they play volleyball when It is hot out. A player may break a sweat and that would be disastrous. Come to Texas where the players sweat off 10 pounds just walking from their car to the gym.

I never heard, how slippery was the floor last night? We're players in jeopardy?
