Coach E has consistently wanted to install the 6-2. He finally has the depth of talent at every position. Even though fans may wish they could see a player play back row or serve like they used to, Coach has repeatedly stated that this is the system he is running this year. There will be set backs and struggles and players getting more and less PT, but I think that the 6-2 will be played all season.

I predict a week of very menotinous back bump setting drills for Cat.

Strictly my opinion, but if Texas had on a 5-1 offense during August workouts, and decided on a starting setter, there would be a chance that either Collins or Dalton could transfer and we'd be left with only one setter for 2014. Because Dalton redshirted, she has 3 years of eligibility remaining, as does Collins; in a sense, both our setters are in the same graduating class. I compare this situation to football where 2 quarterbacks are signed in the same class. Eventually, one is announced as the starter, and the other transfers in order to find more playing time as a starter at a different school. So, should Texas switch to a 5-1, things could get very tricky (for next season) with the setter who is sitting on the bench . . . Very logical, but I sure hope that would not be the mindset of Elliott now that the season has begun.
But I also noticed Dalton putting the pads on her legs during the NM match. Hope it doesn't mean anything, because we need her on the court whether in a 6-2 or the 5-1. If Prieto plays to her potential on the RS, a 6-2 with Collins is fine.
Are we recruiting a setter for 2015 or 2016?

No setter recruit on the horizon for 2015 or 2016. We have 3 verbal commitments for each of those classes, and all are MBs or pin hitters. So, sure seems like we are not going to sign a setter until 2017, which basically means a freshman will start that season as Collins and Dalton would exhaust their eligibility after the 2016 season. We probably have to sign 2 setters in the 2017 class. How we will even conduct Spring practice in 2017 is beyond me unless the setter(s) enroll early. Maybe we get an experienced setter to transfer in 2017 . . .

She is also used to setting a fast offense so the moon balls don't come naturally to her. Dalton did good. That is a positive. I think 6-2 will prevail.

I think Jerritt runs the 6-2 in the beginning of each season for 2 reasons: to get more players on the court for player development and to keep players happy who typically don't see the court. If the team is not 'hitting their numbers' in the 6-2, they will switch to a 5-1.... and personally, I can't wait for that to happen.

While I agree in principle, who do you want to go to the bench in the 5-1 (other than the setter)?
I like Victoria a lot, but she is not Webster, so more weapons on offense may be needed. Bell at RS will be a big plus and the middles should get their share, but offense from Prieto may be needed.

I'm lost regarding your reply; in no fashion did I analyze either setter's performance; strictly talking about the future when they depart.

Was there not a Texas / Seattle game thread?
Was everyone at the Texas Football game like me?
Neal, Dalton and Victoria on the All Tournament Team?
Curious - How does the setter make the All Tournament Team when a 6-2 was used for all matches? Does the head coach decide who makes the team? I know the winner usually receives 3 slots on the team.
