Didn't want to start a new thread for Hawaii's two upcoming tournaments. Any reason why the marquee match-up isn't the last match of the tournament? Oregon is the second night and then UCLA is the second night as well. probably has to do with when the teams' return flights are? i dunno ...

Seems to me Magill was more effective than Adolpho during this tournament. tonight magill had 11k, hit .455, in on 6 blocks ... but i guess the way these tournaments work, sometimes the voting is turned in before the last match is even played sometimes. they mentioned that asu was already flying back. their coach probably turned in his ballot before he left? Possible. Magill had more kills and a higher % than Adolpho in the first two matches, but one less block. Perhaps other factors came into play in the selection process.

This match answered one question. Savanah Kanakai was a 1st string, All-State outside hitter for Farrington High School. Very short for a Division I hitter, but I always wondered how she would do as an outside hitter instead of DS/libero. I found out. Very well, thank you. She hits just as hard as the Bow’s other outside hitters.
What’s with all the service errors so far this year. I could understand if, like Ohio, its coach said that there was a deliberate effort to serve really tough with the philosophy of high risk-high rewards. But many of the Bows have lollipop serves and they still missed frequently. Frustrating. Did not hurt them tonight except in the 3rd set. However, it needs to be corrected for upcoming tougher teams.

First match I got to see this season and I was quite impressed. Greenley is a very good player and I think the future is bright with her on the outside. She does need to work on her backrow defense. But overall front row play and serving were good. Passing was decent, but she was being targeted after a while. Passi reminds me a lot of Satele with her power and jump. Would like to see her get fed a bit more. Middles looked good. Was actually quite impressed with the blocking tonight.
I do agree that the service errors need to be cleaned up, but I like the approach. This team is going to need to serve really tough to win matches. I also like the feel of this team. It really seems like everyone is willing to step up and try to get kills. Time will tell to see how this team will perform.

I did like how Kendra came in and subbed for Higgins. She's definitely taller and does set a sweet ball. Nice hands as well and looks formidable up front as a blocker. Reminds me a little of Jen Carey type.

Let's see how the Wahine respond to last night's tough loss. And without Tai. What is her religion that keeps her out of Sunday matches? And why didn't she come to BYU is she doesn't play on Sundays?

She is Mormon. It was reported that Hawai'i has other Mormons on the team, and only Olevao is sitting out.

Ironic how at least half the ASU team and coaching staff are Mormon and all played on Sunday in Hawaii! Could be a factor at tournament time. Hope not, and I applaud her for her convictions. Wish she was at BYU!

Wish she was at BYU! I don't really understand Olevao's position but I guess that is between her and the Wahine program. Last year, there were concerns raised by some (fans) about how Olevao's decision not to play on Sunday could have an affect on the Wahine during the postseason but nothing ever became of that. I don't know how much of a concern that is this year because unlike in years past, the Wahine making the NCAA tourney is not a foregone conclusion. We will trade you Olevao for Hamson.

Everyone practices their religious faith differently. I, for example, like to binge watch TV shows on DVD instead of the original broadcast airing on TV. Also, when writing two consecutive sentences, I only insert one space after the period. A lot of people insert two spaces. I also don't like to walk under ladders. This sounds like a superstition, but religion vs. superstition -- what's the diff?

Adolpho and Manu-Olevau on All-Tournament Team with Gardner MVP Congratulations to Gardner...she's a beast. If she can make the Sun Devils finish in the top 4 (as they are picked), I think she might have a shot as PAC-12 POY. Unlikely that award goes to usually a player on a team that finishes in the Top 2 I don't think ASU is that good and there a ton of great OHs like Gardner in the PAC-12. That award is Vansants to lose. Gardner is great though.

Wish she was at BYU! Were they drinking Pepsi's too? Pepsi is nectar of the gods, IMHO! I gave it up, however about 7-8 years ago. All soda, actually. My jeans fit much better.
