Im amazed they dont even have a qualifier with local teams. They definitely need to revisit the money and points if the opens cant even fill tournies You get what you pay for. 2014 amounts aren't online anymore, but for 2015: Organizers pay approximately 40% less (240k GS vs 150k dual gender open + travel costs for officials + room & board for athletes). And half size stadium 1,500 seats versus 3,500 seats. Also FIVB doesn't appear to want the top teams at the Opens. They tried to dictate it by rule in 2013; but that didn't fly, so they lowered the prize money instead.

Both USA Men's teams went 2-0, both have the worst team in their pool still to play so each should win their pools. Brunner/Mayer beat some quality teams. Nice wins for them.

Really? they hung a 21-9 set on each of them. I thought Montgomery-Casebeer wins were a bit better. Over a decent Canadian team & Germany.
