There are many other California schools he could choose from. You just named all the schools farther away. And he commited so early that some schools probably didnt even get the time to make him an offer or get him out on an official visit. His clubmates and club coaches are at LBSU. Same reason TJ chose LBSU. I said it last year, I'm expecting LBSU to take National Championships in the 2016 season. If Long Beach Wins the national championship in 2016 I WOULD BE SHOCKED. If they will one at all during TJ and Josh's tenure i'd be shocked. There isn't a culture in place conducive of winning a title

Brett Rosenmeier - Coastal - Hawaii Kyle Barnes - Coastal - George Mason GMU is going to be dirty in a few years and could make a run at Penn State for many years to come with the additions of Kyle Barnes, Bryant Eckstein, Seth Blevins, and Will Calaman all in this class

They have been putting in allot of work to get the Coastal kids to stay in State. That Coastal team has been a once in a Lifetime in the state. I think the big miss is Rosenmeier who has the potential to be the best player from the state since Reid Priddy came out of RVC.

I don't think that Reid played for RVC. He was born in Richmond, but never played Volleyball in Virginia. Started playing in Florida I believe. But we will take him none the less! Most of the kids are going to Mason because of instate tuition, available scholarships and the proximity to the Beach (HOME). There were some heavy hitters after some of these boys, Stanford, UCLA, Pepperdine, Ohio State just to name a few, but the high cost of higher education now days is intimidating. Curtis Stallings is the only one to travel away from the area at this time. Rosenmeier wil be the second having committed to Hawaii. Go Warriors!

Sorry, He has Richmond on the National page and associates with RVC with Clinc's. My mistake. I guess it helps if I look at his Bio on Wiki. While I am from the Chicago area I have followed the Coastal team closely ever since I saw them at boys Nationals when they finished 2nd to HBC. At that time I thought Rosenmeier and Barnes where players that had the most potential. I having seen allot of players and talked with a lot of Coaches still feel that Rosenmeier as the potential to be the best player to come out of the state in a long while. Will be interesting to see what happens. Know years past there was a couple of other players who went to Hawaii from out east and the sun, sand and distance from home got to them.

“The times, they are a changing” and the winds of change are blowing hard over the land of the Patriot. A major shift in philosophy seems to be the order of the day at GMU. Gone are the days of the “Jolly Green Giants”, those tall slow footed behemoths that roamed the courts at Mason for years. You remember the ones that were constantly trying to play catchup to the two to three inch shorter athletic players that out hustled Mason for years. That new breed of VOLLEYBALL PLAYER has arrived. Mason has been adding the quicker, more athletic volleyball player over the last couple of years and it has paid dividends. Now with the addition of the boys from Coastal to go with the existing athletes a more competitive, harder hitting, passing and defensive mind set may be emerging. Mason SHOULD become more competitive across the DI landscape in the next year or so.

Best of luck.

Looking at the high school results I know that Ekstein is playing outside for his high school. Did GMU recruit him as an OPP or Middle. They look to be loaded at Middle and have a freshman at OPP that is a freshman who was top 50.
