These two matches should be fun to watch.
Badgers get to see the other super tough server. Bricio like Hancock can take over a match with fast/tough serves. If they can handle her serves I think Wisconsin can win this match. They also need to watch the middle when Bricio is in the back court as she always is a back row attack threat. Wisconsin in 4.
As for Washington, I haven't seen them yet this year to see what their back row defense looks like so it's a tossup for me on that match.

I'm excited for the Kaleigh Nelson-Haleigh Nelson match-up we didn't get last December. Oh, jeez. LOL. Haven't been paying much attention to USC. Is Miss NwaneBOOM back after her injury? I know she and LC are buds. I bet they are looking forward to this matchup. Here's a discussion point: Bricio serve v. Hancock serve. Compare & contrast.

With Bricio's, you're more likely to get smoked in the chest or the throat because of the hybrid float/topspin movement. With Hancock's, you're more likely to swing and miss completely because of the sidespin she gets on it.

The Badgers struggled a little bit with Ball State's serve last week. Fortunately, BSU didn't get to serve much! Here's Sheffield's presser transcript, including a bit on Bricio. Once the weekly match notes get posted I'll start a match thread elsewhere. www.uwbadgers.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/091514aaa.html

I predict UW will beat UW on Friday, and I'm willing to back up that prediction with serious money!
Conventional wisdom would have Washington favored over Wisconsin because of home court, but I think Washington is still figuring out their line-up and Wisconsin could have a 3 or 4 set win.
Here's what I do know, it's great to finally have some real competition at home for pre-conference matches. Most coaches in the Pac12 are beefing up their early schedule for RPI purposes, but from a fan perspective, it's nice to finally have matches that have some real meaning to them prior to the start of Pac-12 play.

The "10 PM" start + home court gives U-Dub a serious advantage. I know UdoubleU is going out there today, but still. But I agree with you, my money is on UW winning! Are the PAC teams all coming east next year? It's still an easier adjustment because the time zone moves favorably for them.

I think the Badgers should be able to handle USC and it will be a dog fight against Washington (who I think will win in a close 3-1 or 3-2 match.)
USC is scary because they have so much talent on the pins, but I think UW's defense and passing will be far superior to USC's without Hagglund/Shaw back there. Washington is dangerous because they have point scorers at every position and one of the best outlet outside hitters in Vansant. Plus, the match will be in Washington which will bring a hostile crowd and be a difficult place to play. That said, if Wisconsin can come focused and execute I think they have the tools to bring home the win.

So in 2015 Badgers host the same teams as are paired this week? Trivia - did you know "Maryland, my Maryland" is the same melody as O Tannenbaum?
Let's hope it's 43 and rainy next year, like our Miami match (yes, I am aware they play inside...).
Pac 12 has a serious lead on this showdown, so the Badgers better "bring it!" Sorry Maryland, you got no fightin' chance.

Don't think I'm going to be able to see either of these two games. We don't have Pac-12 network on our cable package here in NY. There's no other option right?

All three pac/ big challenges rotate west to east each 4 years. This year it was Stanford Oregon USC courts. Next year it's Illinois Wisconsin Michigan, followed by ucla Oregon Washington and ending with penn state Michigan Maryland I believe
