I attended school at the University of Washington, and I still keep in contact with some of my college friends. And I can tell you that none of us ever referred the University of Washington as "UW". It has always been "U-Dub". If I see "UW" in a thread title, the first thing that comes to mind is the University of Wisconsin. Just thought I'd share all that with all of you smiling VT faces. Yeah, it's pronounced "U-Dub," but it's spelled UW. "U-Dub" is spelled "U-Dub".

When you read a newspaper article they don't type "UDUB" just like they don't type "Wazzu"... how you say it and how you spell it aren't always in sync. It's a regional thing, plain and simple. Just like if you live in the midwest SAYING O-S-U means Ohio State, whereas in the midwest O-S-U means Oregon State. The only time anybody ever writes "U-Dub" is if they are using it with special intent to draw attention to the pronunciation. Like when somebody writes "Hahvahd". Seriously, it's written "UW". (Same with "Wazzu".)

Then by all means, go right ahead and continue to butt heads over who should be referred to as THE "UW" on this board.

This whole debate may be over soon once they change the school name to "University of Carlini."
They're just trying to figure out the fight song, since "On, Carlini" is dicey.

I realize it's not a scientific poll, but it's shocking that every voter, so far, is picking UW.

this is hysterical. uw beats uw. there are already 3 polls going...? NOTE - UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN - MADISON, was established first. They are the original and first UW. The University of South Carolina was established in 1801. The University of Southern California was established in 1880. When you see "USC", which comes to mind first?
