I still would like to see more of Koelsch. She came in and did nicely at the end of the 3rd set. She sets a high ball a little better than Higgins I think. Glad to see her get that block on the last point. Would she be the tallest setter in the history of Wahine volleyball?

Ironically, Koelsch sets a lot like Boyer did back in the day.

In the youtube video of this match, Kalei Adolpho is having some sort of animated discussion with the volunteer hitting coach James Ka from 1:06:33 - 1:07:09. Anyone know what they're saying to each other? It's probably technical but I still want to know.

Jen Carey was 6-1 Here we go again with the "setter controversy": local vs. mainlander. I was guilty of calling for Shoji to give Thurlby more playing time despite Kamanao's AA work. I would have preferred he stuck with Carey but Vakasausau's set to the pins was a little quicker so we know what happened there. Of course senior year, he let them split duties which was cool. With Higgins growing pains some of us want Koelsch to get a shot. I really don't know on this one but hopefully Higgins will sharpen her set locat ions by Thanksgiving.

By then you may the stuffing and gravy ready but no turkey to eat. Sounds like one and done after a first round invitation to Seattle.

Funny you should ask that but ironically I did ask Kalei about that at practice Monday and she told me they were discussing when to call out the quick (shorter) slide to the full slide to the pin. Ka was telling her to be aware of where the pin blocker was and to react quicker to the call. Kalei told me also that she knows she has to be quicker on her feet to committing on the step out.
